Just thought I'd throw these two out there since I haven't seen either of them mentioned here yet. I don't have either one, but they're getting some good press around the web and I'd love to hear if anyone here has any thoughts on them.

I think that particular skin would hurt my eyes after about 28 seconds. The white skin looks much better IMO.

| I've seen electrax mentioned here before, but I don't really think the world needs another VA. More synths like absynth but with a better interface would be a different matter, but I can't see it happening while the consumers are increasingly becoming daft kiddies who just want to press a button to make a hit. |

Actually, I'd say that Electrax is exactly that and more, albeit with different strengths in terms of sounds. I'll have to caveat that by adding that I haven't actually used Electrax, just based on what I've read and heard. But, like Absynth, it does much more than just VA - it actually has 13 synthesis types and 4 internal synths that can be layered, or used individually. Absynth's unique strength is in its complex envelopes that allow you to create very detailed rhythmic modulations and evolving textures, whereas Electrax's strength seems to be in its individual per-layer arps/sequencers that allow you to layer multiple patterns for really complex moving parts (i.e., one-note wonders).

You say that like it's a bad thing. :p |

| Mmm... Might be interesting I suppose. I meant we need more synths with multi point envelopes and ways of creating evolving sounds more than new synthesis techniques. Everyone seems to have one these days:rolleyes: |

I was half on the beta test for Dune for a while.
Excellent filters, really excellent. |

So, did they only allow you to keep half a license? ;) |

I bowed out swiftly.
I've still got one of the betas somewhere but the forum was a juvenille argument filled joke.
Worse than this place if you believe that :D |

13 synthesis types?! What are they all?
I wonder how useful all this emphasis on novel techniques really is. I mean, as a synth guy it obviously interests me in a more academic way, but in practical terms I rarely have use for anything other than subtractive + FM + granular. Maybe additive occasionally. |

The skin reminds me of glowing synths in the dark. The white skin looks kind of pretty, but it reminds me of that trance on a stick rompler. |
