to the Brooklyn "New Yorkers"

Gotta admit...the logo looks really tacky. Outside of the graffiti-like "Brooklyn", none of it works. What's with that star on the USA map? And the team name and font is awful.

I will say though- that logo looks a lot better than the current Nets logo, which is one of the most boring logos in pro sports:

i wish the nets would get the out of The Rock

go back to izod center and play your games there
neon
the graff branding has a young/immature appeal to it, IMO

Gotta hit that 16-32 age demographic, so naturally they're gonna skew the logo and advertisements to appeal to a younger crowd.

Teams should just stay out of New Jersey period. It's not a sports market at all. Everywhere you go close to the border there's another prominent area (NYC, Philly, Pittsburgh, D.C.).

I'd move the Devils to Halifax, Hamilton, Mississauga, or Quebec City in Canada. All four of those places would draw at least 3X the fans the Devils do right now.

The Nets have been a cellar franchise for a while now. Both in attendance and play.

Well, yes and no. They can't just transplant a team at will, it'd be horrible press for the NHL. Not to tout our own horns, but the Devils (not the Nets) have been one of the most successful franchises in the past 2 decades. Just because of one bad season of bad performances and bad attendance, they can't just up and go.

Plus, they're 11th in order of overall earnings and financial stuff in the NHL. Believe it or not, they pulled an average of 90% capacity in attendance last two season, and their ratings have more than doubled in the past 2 years. The NHL has a lot more franchises to worry about besides the Devils, most of the southern teams, some of the western teams, etc.: Columbus, Atlanta, Florida, Colorado..

These are all official numbers and part of a recent Forbes article.

A Ranger fan isn't the best and most informed opinion to be talking about the future of their rival franchise haha.. I wouldn't take a Red Sox fan's opinion of the Yankees' franchise seriously.. Hell, there's a lot of ideas I can chip in for the future of the Rangers franchise lol..

Pro sports in a business. Owners and league officials could care less how well a team is playing. All they care about is whether or not the team draws fans and makes money.

Source? I highly doubt this. Last time I read reports about Devils TV ratings, nobody watches them (literally). And attendance numbers are skewed all the time. The Islanders draw around 7,500 fans a game, yet their "official" attendance is around 10,000. That's because Islanders staff count all the season ticket holders or groups who didn't show up.

Regardless, any of those four cities I mentioned would outdraw the Devils attendance by a landslide. It doesn't matter who is saying it...it's the truth.

It's still money in the bank if the season ticket holder bought the ticket and didn't show up.

Devils are a pretty decent 10th and 11th in 2009, 2010 respectively..

http://espn.go.com/nhl/attendance/_/year/2010 - Not the best, but like YOU said, it's all about the green, and they're making a good enough amount of it.

I'm looking for the TV ratings page I remember reading two weeks ago. Devils rose up to a little less than 50,000 households, while the Rangers dipped from about 80,000 to 65,000 households, and the Islanders' ratings went up 110%, to just under the Devils number..

Your proposal to ship the Devils off to Canada has NO ground, sorry you lose..
