There appears to be no catch for somebody with my needs.

ie I don't need all the added Divisi sections or 2nd chair violins.

After a recent KVR thread i've 100% decided against EWQL so i'm building section by section instead.

It is quite a good deal considering you probably won't be using the function anyways.

That's what I thought.

Even if I did need them you can buy them as extras anyway.

So far my replacement for Complete Composers is :-

Lass Lite
Requiem Light (don't need the 5.1 or extra mics)
SAM Brass
Ethno World 5
Individual Tonehammer drums if I need them

Dunno about Woodwinds yet, maybe VSL.

get WVIV band. Best deal for brass and woodwinds and its ridiculously cheap like 200$ or something. It also sounds better than any wind or brass library at the moment. Well the full version does and apparently the band version is the sam engine. Check it out.

149$

I have the full version and the special player and it sounds incredible. Blows VSL out of the water. A few people are pissed off that this version is so cheap mainly those that paid for the 1500$ full version. The full version does have alot of features to do cool weird things that most people wouldn't do so I'm not complaining but this is definitely what you want for brass and woodwinds. No samples. light on the CPU.

Ah cool I remember you mentioning those before.

Time to demo when I get home, the lack of mahusive sample library is appealing.

Cheers big ears.

Excellent deal, and you get the impulse responses so You can put the same IRs on the other sections. The strings suit the vsl horns quite well here.

Ya know, I've followed that thread since the beginning, but haven't chimed in on it. But, I don't think it really gives EWQL PLAY a fair shake and it seems to me that many of the negative comments are based on either people's experiences with earlier versions of PLAY, or just what they've heard, rather than experienced firsthand. I was a little bothered that someone linked an earlier thread dissing EWQL, because I was one of the people who had some negative things to say in that earlier thread. But, an update was released not too long after that and now PLAY works fine for me and I wouldn't think of selling any of my many EWQL libraries (with the possible exception of VOP, simply because I don't use it much), even if that was allowed.

So, bottom line here is not that I think you should buy EWQL stuff, since I don't really know how its orchestra libraries compares to LASS Lite or any other decent orchestral library. But, I would say to not put too much emphasis on the opinions offered in that thread without considering the context. I can say firsthand (as an owner of a half dozen EWQL libraries) that PLAY is VERY stable on my system now and is a very nicely implemented plugin.

I sort of guessed some of it may be a little overblown but it got me looking at other options. With the likes of LASS lite and Requiem light I can cover most of the complete composers package with considerably better packages for only a bit more money.

I'll probably never use 30% of the EWQL package either.
