Any AGI developers here?

Or people with basic understanding of programming and too much free time on their hands?

I'm thinking of writing an AGI game, and I was wondering if anyone would be interesting in helping out? Apparently the programming should be a breeze.

I've been reading up on designing adventure games and I have the main ideas down for the game already, some of the puzzles and the main character+some random stuff, and I'm working on the storyline now.

Sooo... anyone interested?

If you have a few dollars lying around you can probably summon up an entire team on vWorker and the likes.

The problem you have there is that there arent any people with knowledge of AGI just lying around. Anyone whos familiar with is, is probably already working on his own stuff. Also, whatever you have in mind is going to take a while. Scripting takes time, graphics even at a basic 320x200 take even more time and finding people with enough spare time to alst the lenght of a project is quite hard. Ive learned that myself several times while working on mods for various games. Whenever you depend on a persons spare time to help out it spells disaster. Also, something ive learned from my own experience is put everything down on paper. All the ideas you have for story, characters, graphic, puzzles, put it down on paper and sort it out on paper. Make sure that you know what you are going to do and how you are going to do it before you write a line of code or draw a pixel of the graphics. And after you made the plan, stick to it. Dont add stuff because you think that it would make the game better, it will only make the development process longer, eventually youll want to add more and mroe stuff to it and then it will never get done.

You might also want to check out AGS instead of AGI. Dont know mu h about AGI but people make some great stuff in AGS. It has a great IDE and comes with lots of support from the community.

I'd like to consider myself pretty knowledgeable in game programing and I have no idea what AGI even is...

I was thinking of AGI mostly because I really need to learn how to program stuff, and it has supposedly a really easy language so I thought it would be a great place to start :) Plus the nostalgia-part, I've always preferred the earlier Sierra games to the ones that has better graphics etc.
Moongoose
Well in the end the most important thing is that you are satisfied and familiar with the language youre using anyway so it doesnt really matter which one you start doing stuff with, i just think that AGS is easier for beginners, allows for excellent modifications for advanced users and again, the support community is great and the graphic style you use is optional :D Someone i know from another forum i frequent made this in AGS (link ) and anything from this list (especially the ones from Yahtzee from zero punctuation fame) is worth a play. Both because they are actually great game, and of course for inspiration and showcase of what can be done in AGS.
