Stuart Price.....

DJ RANN
Even though his music is not really my thing, I recently heard an extremely catchy Electro Pop track and did some digging only to find out that Mr Price was behind it - it got me thinking about his productions again and I remembered seeing a really good documentary on the history of synths, with him as one of the contributors, but for the life of me, I can't find it.

I did however find this article, which is pretty interesting (along with just about every other thing I've read about him):

http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/feb...tuart_price.htm

Some of you might just know him as that guy who did the tune from that Citroen Car Transformer advert but he's produced a really diverse and interesting body of work under the moinkers:

Les Rythmes Digitales
Zoot Woman
Paper Faces
Man With Guitar
Thin White Duke
Jacques Lu Cont
Pour Homme
S.D.P.

If anyone can find that damn documentary I'd be most pleased

Here's some of his work:

I have to post the following one for reasons simply relating to avatars ;)

Zombie0729
he's one of the few guys in the industry that transcended a lot of genres, produced for a lot of other people (madonna being a big one) and honestly, i think he's at the top of the electronic world. he writes hits, his productions don't sound the cleanest but it doesn't matter because his song writing is fantastic. so ya, big up's to mr. price he's paved the way for a lot of us i think

Rann was it called Synth Britannia? Think that might be what you're on about.

If so, it starts here, the rest of the series has been uploaded by the same geezer.

Thanks - I may well have been. I had just seen some of a documentary on British TV a while back but never knew the name of the program. I'l have to investigate......

@DJAR - totally agree - he's one of the few people that has "sold out" as some would describe but managed to keep pushing in different directions and risen above the genre boundaries.

Yup hes great, and Madonna or whoever manages who her producers are made a mistake by not continuing having Stuart and Mirwais as her go to Producers after the success of 'Music' and 'Hung Up'. Probably one her bigger mistakes in her career.

That digitales track is sooo groovy.
music2dance2
Agreed, great producer and has made some brilliant tracks. He's also a wicked DJ saw him a few years back just before he worked with madonna and went on her tours and dissappeared from DJ-ing. Shame would love to see him back behind the decks again.

Damn, that track is pumping yet so simple.

OK, so don't flame me for being cheesey, but these (by Price) are just so god damn well produced. If only most edm had as much energy or production

that track is stolen from something else, ill be back with more info when i find which one.... think i have it in a picotto set somewhere. or maybe it was a remix.

Another belter is his dub remix of Pain that im used to by Depeche Mode (cant find a youtube unfortunately) - he is a master of building tunes up in breakdowns

Heard Picotto drop it at Dance Valley in 2006. It went off.
