I didn't get to hear much (got in around 1:15 for my set upstairs)... but RIGHT when I walked in LBL played a SIIIIIIIIICK track! Pretty much changed my life. I NEED IT! And I don't know how I will ever be able to ID it :( The song has a lot of guys saying, like, "digadow digadow diggaduh" LOL. I know thats vague, but does ANYONE know what I'm talkin about? It was SUPER funk. HALP!
It was the song the one guy was complaining about in the TAO thread. I will just leave this here:

thats 2 times now where a big name has left SF disappointed when dealing with back to back sf/la gigs.
I remember SFTA'saying SVD played 1hr 45 minutes in august the night before Dusk till doorn where we got 3+ more hours.
im sure luke played 4 hr 30 min in LA the night before.(not necessarily solely dj'ing) ;)

UMMMMM YESSSS! Anyone who was hating on that or said it's "retarded" can KISS MY ASS! that clearly means you know absolutely NOTHING about music. Musical genious! But ya, thanks Neuro! You nailed it. I walked into Ruby totally sober and tired and heard this, and almost peed my pants. Here's a more "subtle" version....
(wait til about 20 secs in til the alalalala)
I knew there would be people that would agree with me on this track.... mostly the oldskool crowd ;)
But yes. I'm in love. It's called Blau-Acapella (not available yet, unfortunately... I'm workin on gettin it! Jim, I'll hook ya up! I cant wait to BLAST this at my shows. sorry haters!)

Ya, I'm sorry. But I had to DJ on NYE and played at Ruby the following night ALMOST ready to cancel. I felt like I was going to DIE. seriously. I could barely walk. So more props to LBL for lasting as long as he did....

First, this show was not nearly as good as the July 2nd show. Track selection was not super original (for what I'm accustomed to seeing at a Laidback Luke show). Luke came on and played his usual distinct and fun sound. He played to the crowd which seemed totally into it. However, I too did not love the Elvis track toward the end of his set.
Besides the music, there were a few hiccups; the line moved slowly for those that didn't have hard tickets (it was over 1hr 20min to get in for our friends that got to ruby just before 11pm ). Coat check ran out of hangers and tickets by the time they got in.
I thought the music before and after Luke went on was dissappointing, especially after Luke jumped got off. Trevor Simpson played after and (i'm almost positive) opened as well. It got uber commercial awfully quickly with that Black Eyed Peas "had the time of my life" remake...shudder...among others. I was done at that point...in fact it was the second time it was played that night (in less than 3 hours).
Still, the energy was great considering it was the day after NYE and hopefully most people liked the music, but compared to his last show, it was definitely a bit of a let down this time around.

I may not know jack about music, but this truly does suck. (by the way, I know a little about music ranging from Mid-Ages, Baroque, Classical, Romantic/Romanticism, and 19th century, college req and i got a B, yeah a B cause it is boring. Acapella belongs with the Jamaicans. :P lates.

Thats why I kinda didn't want to see him at SF the next day. I chose NY because he is going to be fresh from a 5 day Mexican vacation. Well minus the El Paso gig.
He is going to play a lot longer at Pacha and play a darker more mature set there then he does at the big massive.
He even told me after his TAO set he had a TON of music he couldn't get to because he only had limited time to play...

do they purposely hold the guest list line?
also don't like how the bouncers were vague about the ticket prices, saying free before a certain time without saying what the time was and not even telling us what the discounted price would be...(i know the red square site said 11pm but i thought maybe it had changed)
we showed up at 11 and were in line until about 12:20..to find out the discount list was only $10 cheaper(we would have obviously gone in the general admission line and not stood in line for so long)
also right when we got in the front, we had to wait an extra 10 min as the door guy with the beanie started letting people without even waiting in line.
i've never had an issue with ruby skye as i've always had hard pre-sales..moving forward never going to try guest list again.

i think a 1.5hr set at a club that stays open late is inexcusable.
don't mean to always toot Markus Schulz' horn but he played at TAO from 8-930, flew to SF, played their from 12-530 am, then flew to vancouver that afternoon and played their for 3 hours in the evening.
