The problem was too many people completely ed their pages up, so it made the whole site look awful.
It's a shame because I had a tidy business going doing up people's MySpace pages ;) but actually I'd rather that than be faced with vomit-inducing broken layouts every time I click on someone's MySpace link.
They also get a lot more control over ads this way, which a lot of people were avoiding by slapping Flash banners etc over the top, or even just completely removing with CSS. |

Joking aside, this just seems so unbelievably stupid of myspace. The only people still on myspace are those holdouts who like the customizable options, so limiting them is nothing more than trying to copy FB, and a damned stupid move. |

Completely agree. Their forced update to 3.0 destroyed my profile and probably thousands of other people's customized profiles. |

It is really not that bad guys, after spending only a few min I was able to get something acceptable created on my site.
When I will have more time, will try to spice up my site a bit.

Just finish some basic header to my site - it is really not that bad, still basic but you can use (in some places) html code.

The one main difference between myspace and facebook at one point was customization, so if myspace is stopping that I wonder if they're actually trying to compete with facebook now (which will never happen).
I know its like comparing apples and oranges but I honestly hated the css/html on myspace. Way too many colors, weight too many teenyboppers/juveniles. But facebook I think is so far ahead now the way its been integrated. Myspace was out of the game far too long when they should have been focusing on innovation, which is why I don't think they'll ever get the upperhand again. After 2008 facebook changed so much and I know a lot of people got rid of their myspaces myself included. |
