Moombahton (pronounced "Moom-bah-TONE") is a genre of popular music that was created by American dj/producer Dave Nada [1] at a high school homecoming "skipping party" for his younger cousin in Washington, D.C., in the fall of 2009.[2] The specific event that stimulated NADA's development of the Moombahton genre was his slowing the Afrojack remix of the Silvio Ecomo & DJ Chuckie song "Moombah" to 108 beats per minute. Because that tempo nears that of the reggaeton, Nada created the neologism "Moombahton" by combining the title of the track "Moombah" and the "ton" ending of the word "reggaeton" and applied it to his new genre.
Some examples of popular songs that are well know in 'Moombahton' fashion remix for reference...

I've seen Diplo drop this kind of stuff live before and, honestly, it wasn't bad. Some of the tracks are pretty stupid, but I like the slowed down tempo and overall rhythm of the stuff. Wouldn't mind seeing where it ends up in a few years if it's still kicking.
If you want an idea of what more original productions sound like check out DJ Orion or DJ Munchi.

WTF is with everything being slowed down?!?!?!?
I seriously thought music was going to get faster and crazier but it went in the other direction...

People don't go out to the clubs for the music anymore, they go for the party.
Half the crowd can't even stan properly to dance, they just wave themselves around like they're dancing.
It's pretty sad...
Here is a reiterated quote
"The scene is different now, and people expect DJ's to play all the hits when they perform in clubs. They get pigeonholed into certain sub genres and are expected to play that sound only.
Music to dance too, get lost in and escape. Music with emotions is no longer what it used to be."
This isn't just in EDM, music in general is suffering...

Disagree. When music dominates, good music thrives elsewhere. I don't think the problem has ever been the music so much as it's been the listeners. Doesn't it seem a bit illogical to complain that "music sucks"? It didn't get that way on it's own, and nothing's stopping people from seeking out something better/more to their tastes.
Music stagnates because people stagnate.

The problem for many is finding the good music...whether in an underground club or on the internet. When it becomes to hard to find the good music people either give up or just loose interest.

I definitely agree that the music seems to have changed. Maybe its just me but I don't feel tracks go for that emotional attachment like they once did. It seems every track is just trying to have that Big Hit sound. How often do you hear people say a DJ just dropped Bomb after Bomb. IMO that's not the way a night out should be....there needs to be those emotional tracks that take you on a story that lead up to the bombs.

Music is all subjective and relative. If there is a certain type of music that is growing, becoming popular, and "replacing" your music it's because people like it (whether they're on this board or not). So when music is getting "bad" it just means that the music you once had tastes for isn't as popular now and is being played less. Music you currently like probably grew and replaced a certain type of music that came before it and the people that enjoyed that music went through the same deal.
Solution:
-keep an open mind
-explore different genres
-don't turn off a track as soon as you don't like it, give it a chance
-goto a DJ you typically wouldn't go see
The alternative is just to sit back and listen to your same favs over and over again. Then you're just that old ass weird bald guy sitting in his beat up Dodge Ram head banging to from the 70s living life in his own little world. Have fun with that....
