Longest EDM song ever

In general, the goal of EDM DJs is to make a bunch of different ~5-10 minute long tracks (usually by separate producers) into one continuous mix that is ~1-4 hours long.

Has any big-name producer (say, anyone in the DJ Mag Top 100 list) ever made a 1+ hour track of new material before?

It probably is more profitable for producers to spend their time making 10 six-minute tracks than 1 60-minute track. 10 small shots at a successful tune is better than 1 big shot.

For the track to be interesting the melodies probably would have to change every 5-10 minutes or so anyways.

I'm sure its been done, and the progression would have to be pretty good for it not to get boring.

Anything in the last few years?

I would imagine it would be difficult to do today. You'd have to do some research on how the crowd would react before creation. Like someone stated, you don't want it to get boring.

Er, that sounds like you are talking about a DJ mix.

One song = one track, not "a bunch of different tracks", like "Sasha's Voyage Of IMA" which is 42:31 long, but is comprised of 6 tracks.

There is Orbital's "The Box" which can get up to 28:11 as the 4 separate versions into one single track.

Aside from Luciana, I think the longest actual track that I know of (that I actually have) is BT & Sasha - Dakane which clocks in at 19:47

It's driving me nuts because I dumped it about two years ago and I cannot remember the name no matter how hard I think, but I had a track that was over 28 minutes long. Long, progressive track. Amazing. There was also a 12 minute edit I think and then a shorter one than that, like 8 minutes.

This is the type of thing that will keep me searching for hours trying to find it. great.

Track listing - Side one

"Autobahn" ("Motorway") (Ralf Hütter, Florian Schneider, Emil Schult) – 22:42

Ricardo Villalobos - Fizheuer Zieheuer clocks in at 37 mins as a single track. However, some of the recent fabric mixes (Villalobos' for example) was a mix CD of entirely his own material.
