Okay I'll admit it I HATE making the kicks, claps, and percussion. It's always a nightmare and I hasty make them all as I get to the synths to make the tunes which I have no problem making. And I have individual kicks and snares up-the-butt...but they're old.
I've been eyeing (ducks for the rotten tomatoes to be thrown at me) Deadmau5 loops for a bit. I'd like to just get the percussion up to par with the standard he and other progressive house producers have set. Again I'm not looking for melody or chord loops or anything to do with tunes, just percussion. Is this a good investment to make? Any other advice?
And please don't say, "no man you should leaaaaarrrrrn how to make the beats, be oriiiiiiigional." No, I don't care. I'm original with my melodies. I don't need to be a drummer on top of that lol. I want percussion kicks, loops, presets, etc.
This has some of the stuff I made. Most of it's schwag (you might find some things you like) I'll probably be ferreting out in a couple of months and I'm uploading some more I've been working with right now and will update with the link, when they're ready.
I have actually been getting into the practice of harvesting some of the kicks and percussion which invariably become layered as a result of the way I go about doing breakbeat and for some strange reason, can tollerate the tedium it takes to do it so...

The deadmau5 xfer CD is pretty good for one shots. I was not really into the loops, but everything else sounds great.
My main sample packs are the Vengeance House 1/2 and Vengeance Minimal House collection. I'd also recommend Joey Youngman's collection from Loopmasters.

Hey guys thanks for the suggestions! I'm gonna check em out after I overdose on sushi for dinner.
Watts, what do you mean by "one shots"? Sorry I'm unfamiliar with that terminology.

One shots are unlooped phrases or simple elements.
very nice delay, It has a weird swing, that make it very interesting!

Yeah, I meant individual hits of percussion. I will use loops sometimes, but it is more fun (for me, anyway) to build sequences and add effects where needed.
The xfer loops are great for layering; they are just not for me.

loops are always programmed by someone, i just want to be better than that someone. I've tried to put my principles aside and just become a microDJ like everyone else, grabbing 4 loops with a kick on top and drop a bassline and a few leads, but that's just not me.
i am the organic guy, creating patches myself, programming and shufling them and scrutinize the whole thing again.
However if you want to sound like everybody else with the up to date techno/minimal/techhouse nu sound? buy SampleMagic, instant Mark Knight ToolRoom sound. copy the shuffle of the percs into your quantization presets dan apply on your arrangements et voilla INSTANT hit sound.......

I can get very creative using loops , I edit and chop the hell out of them , take bits from different loops and combine them into one , I do prefer to work with loops more than one shots
