And +1 to getting a good lens, it makes a huge difference to your pics. Canon L gear for the win! :D

I never got around to making a Flikr page, but I set up a photo blog for my better pics a while back: http://www.photography.sushipunk.net/

ME TOOO!!!!
I'm mostly into bird photography, next week I'm hoping to get Kingfishers and Sparrowhawks, I've not yet got a pic of a bullfinch or a good Jay yet, as those always seem to be just too far away.
Got a cool pic of a deformed bluetit that had a few scratching their chins, will post a few pics of that too.

If you can search Craigs list: I got great deals on that.
I have a Nikon D200 (which I love) and many Prime Lens. For People shots I use my 85mm 1.8 or 50 1.4. I also just picked up a 180mm 2.8 for $300 (worth 800-900+). I also just ordered a 300 F/4.

I have a nice cannon printer and use Cannon Pro Platinum paper for prints.
I would recommened getting a camera that you can "grow into" so spend a bit extra $ now, you will not look back.

Probably either a 75-300mm (kit lens?) or a 70-300mm?

I've got a bit of a collection going:

- Canon 50D body
- Canon 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM
- Canon 300mm f/4 L IS USM
- Canon 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM
- Canon 100mm f/2.8 USM
- Canon 50mm f/1.8
