HAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAH

oh my god this is the best thread ever. let me just say, i am such a wannabe british person. seriously, not in a bad way or anything, but i've always loved your accent. i can do most accents, irish, scotish, indian, latin, chinese....i can all of those, but i can't do a british accent, which really sucks

anyway, i really do love all you brits! i don't think its funny, i just love it! my g/f is actually british, and oh my lord, her accent drives me CRAZY!!

but hopefully i will be transfering to an english school sometime soon! :)

btw, one question i do have. lets say you're hanging out with all your mates, and you're all british, but there is this one american guy. and he's perfectly alright, except for this american accent. what do you think about him? because i know some (ignorant) americans would just be like "ing british" if it was the other way around.

you check out australian... pretty unique and recognisable then you go to pretty much any western suburb along the east coast and you enter the real aussie accent. g'day mate become ay moite! our language australian - english is very entertaining and has elements of english, german, greek, italian, chinese, korean, japanese, malaysian ect ect ect. rhyming slang is also big here which can make it hard if yoove got no eye deer... like to hit the frog and toad, i.e. make loiyka shepherd an git ve flock ouda hie-ah, dog and bone -> to chat to a moite, ridgy didge is where the bieear lives,

thank god youre not trying to talk new zealand though... thets ruly hard to doow. :)

aye, these brits make me head hurt with their bloody talk.

Ech. Take a butchers at these septics me bloody chinas. :p

Both my parents are English and I used to live there when I was younger (which I'm sure I've mentioned before) so it's all second nature to me. The only accent I can't understand all the time is Glaswegian, but let's face it, we all have trouble with that one (eh Jimmeh!). I can even do a fairly ty Stoke accent (which is where my parents are from btw) when called upon:

Cost kicka bow again a wow yed it back an bost it? Costner? Oooo, ay oop, dook!

Or summat like that.

where I am theres a lot of brummies invading, and then the native Derbyshire guys, which the further north in the county u go the more u sound like a yorkshireman, so jeff & nita would more than I do, but I know a lot of gals from the uk & america who dig my accent so I don't really give a crap :D

btw ste, my mate in US didn't know what an arse was lol

my favoutite variation of the english language/accent is english-speaking south-africans (someone mentioned this earlier). its just so awsome! :D
dj_mdma
hehe my chance to shine

To cut it short, most Foreigners can't understand a bloody word you Northerners are saying :p

I find this is the case EVERYWHERE I GO!

e.g at Love Parade, If alex (Evil_Bastard) spoke normally, i.e with his Geordie accent and slang, most of the Germans and Dutch couldn't really understand him. Only when he spoke really slowly and clearly could they vaguely interpret what he was on about.

At Dancevalley, me and Nat met up with these 3 peeps from Middlesbrough, and she constantly agreed with everything they said etc, but when she had a spare mo, she siad, I can't understand half of what they are saying! LOL CAn't blame her tho! hehe

It was even pointed out in Germany by these blokes that they could easily understand me, but were having difficulty understanding alex.

Basically a clean London accent is what most Europeans/Americans study/understand/listen too in everyday media. By clean I don't mean people who are ing pikeys who live on rundown estates, eating hard drugs for breakfast and running around in loincloths. (j/k with last comment lol)

I have a clean Lonodn accent and eveybody understands me perfectly, until I mumble, or come out with "ARSE, I LOST MY SODDING KEYS AT HOME, YA IN BUGGER, INNIT"

:D

And on the subkject of accents, the worst accent to constantly listen to is the sorority/LA accent on women. ITS SOO BLOODY WHINEY!

And the best accent is most definately english with a Dutch accent, as Josta will tell you ;)

And Ian (Redeye) has the best English accent ever, trust me!
PatMcGroin
HAHAHAHHAHAH!!! thats too great!!!

i had trouble understanding alex sometimes too, but its wasn't bad at all...you i understood no problem, but you guys didn't understand me sometimes too....damn me and my fast slured type speech :p

The worst Aussie accent is from that hole in Westie Sydney Mount Druitt, I cant stand that accent, my bro just married one of em. its the worsed!
I have a teacher from Greystanes, his got nice colloquialism
"In the hurly burly of the H.S.C"
"Now lets kill the birds with just the one stone"
"In the midst of things..."
"absolute ludicrous"
