Thank you for your feedback guys, i've listened to some actual sets and i feel that the quote "Progressive is like sex without orgasm, builds builds but goes nowhere" can apply to this, i'm sure that after an hour i would become bored of this... what a pity. Now the decission is if it is worth going just to see Richie or not... the line up includes 2Manydjs which i don't know very much about them but i think they're mainstreamish and indie and then i'd better avoid them to keep the floor clean of vomit.

Dude, don't take whatever impression Digweed may have given you and apply it to progressive house as a whole. He plays very little if any progressive house these days. If you want proof just let me know.

i like progressive house a lot, but rarely a prog track works well on a gig, some progressive house is similar to the anjunabeats uplifting trance but even less energetic and that's not what i am looking for if i decide to go to an event like this. Digweed before Hawtin could be a good night progression but if Hawtin blast me and then digweed plays a chilled set i'll surely go home and that's not what i want.

My techno/house tastes are Umek, Ben Sims , Dj Preach and SvD or Marco V if i want something more trancey. I think Digweed isn't close to this, i can make a simulation though , play one of his sets loud when i come back home drunk but in this style i'd prefer Eric Prydz than Digweed.

There are still names to confirm... a B2B with Sasha or something like that would put an extra interest on it, that's for sure.

they're not techno nor house but pick some elements of them, read trancey at the end of the sentence...

Really depends on the venue he's playing at...but that being said, the guy in destroys dancefloors on a regular basis. Plays upfront music, but not do much of the prog he used to be known for...but still mixes up many genres of EDM...and does it with style and fluidity that still sets the standard. Saw him many times at Avaland & The Mayan. Go- more than likely you won't be disappointed.

Everyone rants and raves about him in New York. They all say he's so much better than Sasha but personally Sasha>Digweed imo...but anyway that's besides the point.

One particular instance I remember which was pretty recent was Electric Zoo. Everyone was so amazed. I was right there for the very same set and I just couldn't get into it at all. A very small number agreed with me but the general consensus was that everyone's minds were blow by him that night.

I guess it really depends on what you are into. My description was monotonous track selection, and lacking energy while still mixing extremely technically and transitioning well.

Digweed seems more invested these days in his original productions/remixes, and with promoting the Bedrock brand. There hasn't been an additional installment in the 'Transitions' series for nearly two years now, but he's been collaborating quite regularly with Nick Muir lately, and seems to have really invested quite a bit of energy in revitalizing the Bedrock label (a far cry from the nothingness that was going on with the Bedrock a few years back).

Yea, he's doing a hell of a job! I love the latest Bedrock records, especially the stuff from Christian Smith, Marco Bailey, Robert Babicz, and Guy J.

The Transitions CD series is over. Volume 3 was supposed to be the last one. John seems to be veering back towards melody and epic production value from what I've observed, but while still maintaining a mechanical sound so he doesn't lose the techno audience. Check out his newer tracks with Nick Muir 'Bilder' and 'Meteor/Satellite'.

Are you referring to volume 4, or are you saying that the series was originally intended to end with 3, and was simply extended to a fourth installment?

Anyway, while I agree that Bedrock has received a much needed and substantive shot in the arm, I'm not terribly enthusiastic over the work Digweed has done with Muir lately, including the two you releases you linked here; but on the whole, Bedrock has seen a strong influx of quality releases over the past couple of years, particularly with Bedrock 12:

To each their own, but I first saw Digweed in 2005, that was one intense set. For those who think prog doesn't work well live or whatever, he tore the place up (it was '05 NYE Giant outdoor event). That sold me he was king among men. Then I saw him like some summer Giant event, after they had to cancel the NYE event due to rain and he played more stuff like Transitions 3 which, some good some boring. Then I saw him tag team w/ Sasha for NYE I think 2008. I left during the set, was bored of whatever it was I heard.

Lately at work I've been playing my 2004-2005 kiss 100 sets he did, including a liveset he did from Moonpark 2005 Dec. It was only a few years ago but EDM seems to move at a breakneck pace so yes, 2005-6 was the point I felt Digweed didn't play what I wanted to hear as much.
