Why am I getting 6 dB of additional gain in FL Studio?

This might be very hard to pinpoint without looking at the project file, but does anyone have any ideas why FL Studio might be adding 6 dB of additional gain to a channel before entering the mixer?

That is, if the channel volume of a 0.0 dB normalised sample is left at the default volume of -5.2 dB, then the level going into the mixer peaks at -8.2 dB (i.e. the level is reduced by 3.0 dB). This is all fine and well, and evident when starting a new project, but for some reason this project is actually adding 6 dB of additional gain. If the channel volume is left at the default -5.2 dB, the input into the first plug-in on the mixer for that channel peaks 3.0 dB higher than that (so -2.2 dB), i.e. it's adding 6 more dB than normal. So basically something's gone wrong that's upset all the levels, and I'm out of ideas as to what might be causing it. I've tried adding a new audio clip channel and left everything at default, and even sent it to a different mixer channel, but I'm still getting 6 more dB than normal.

By default, the Fruity Limiter on the master channel always starts with a gain... Just set it to 0 or take out the limiter and you'll be good to go

Thanks, but it's not the limiter. There is none in the project and it's always the first thing I remove when starting a new project.

Well for some reason it's fixed now and I haven't done anything. Levels are all back to normal.

Aha, it happens when using a mono plug-in!
