Trance WIP - Feedback/Criticism Appreciated

As posted on the Anjunabeats forums, and my first post here:

What I like to think is a melodic, atmospheric, and hopefully uplifting trance piece I've been working on as a solo production track.

Produced, arranged, etc., in Ableton Live 8 w/ a bunch of my favorite plug-ins and VSTs.

Title isn't finalized yet, just a title I was throwing around in my head as I was producing this piece. Just uploaded it to SoundCloud so here it is:

Regeneration (WIP - solo production) by Trancendent Two

It's been a solid 7 months or so since I've done any kind of real production and composition. I'm sure the mixing isn't good yet and I'm not sure if everything sounds and sits right. I'm not sure if the track sounds good at all. Share your thoughts!

This is definitely still a work in progress and feedback/critique is always welcome and highly appreciated. Harsh criticism, tips, any thoughts at all are welcomed!

Cheers. :)

maybe itīs my headphones but i dont hear any low-end at all. Try to add some more variations to the baseline, maybe a mid-baseline or two. Also, the kick and the snare needs more work. The kick lacks of punch, use maybe some compression to make it "punchier". The snare screams for some reverb, it sounds quite flat atm imo. Also, it would not hurt to add some sub-leads and some fx.

the main thing that hits me is the no sub bass, as sleeping said. you need to do something about that for sure. i really like your pads, your track seems pretty good structurally, its very light hearted. cheers.

Thanks for the replies! I appreciate the feedback, as I haven't been able to get much bite anywhere else.

I'd agreed about the low-end. It might just be an EQing/levels issue, but I need to work more on the basslines in terms of layering and variation. I'll keep that in mind when I re-work. Good point about the kick and the snare, your tips are to the point and very helpful so cheers for that—I'll work on the drums as well. Same for your last point about the sub-leads and FX. At the moment, I really only have FX in the form of reverse/boom elements and transitional elements. I'll try to see if I can incorporate some more atmospheric FX details to the mix.

Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for the feedback as well. I'll make sure to focus on the low-end and sub bass when I get time to re-work this track some more. Glad the structure and arrangement for the most part is working for you (albeit it is a pretty cookie-cutter intro, break, full-in, lead-out style).

I was going for a bright and upbeat vibe to the track, so I am glad the light-heartedness was portrayed.

Thanks again for the feedback, it's very informative and helpful to my current and future productions.

Keep the comments/criticism coming! :D
