It's not a knock on sports, just on the fact that most people only root for whatever team is closest to their hometown. |

If Jay was injured, no point in throwing him back out there... I'll wait until we hear what the injury is before I start burning his jersey. He's the best QB the team has had in my lifetime, and had a pretty situation around him on offense this year.
What I'm actually upset about is how ty he played in the first half. Missed a TD to hester and underthrew Knox for an INT. |

^yeah.....
i think people generally root for teams that they have some connection with. the most obvious connection being 'proximity to home'.
i've never been a very 'spirited' person- never really felt spirit for anything when it came to school or local teams for that matter, but I can see it. I don't care for football at all. Not in the least, and I never have, but watching the playoffs I couldn't help but root for the Jets... On the other hand, being Austrian with a father who follows FIS Ski Racing, I've always been a fan of the Austrian Ski team. That's just how it goes. |

didn't really care who won the Chicago Packers game, but glad Pittsburgh won:)
In the absence of Arizona they're my team for absolutely no reason at all.

I don't see how you can criticise people for that.
But no doubt you'll be glad to know they're both a ing long way from my hometown. |

I understand that's how it works, I just don't relate to it. It's an extension of my distaste for ego probably. I like when people root for a team that they like something about other then it's proximity to their place of birth or current location. I don't expect many people to relate to my view, but it is my take on it.
A friend of mine has a hat with just the words "sports team" on it. Makes me lol every time I see it :haha:
But anyway, go team. |
