Because thats what the article continues to mention is "recreational" and "leisure" sitting time. |
I suppose you're referring to stress because you're "working" and not watching a movie and relaxing? Either way it's bad so you're going to die a horrible, painful death. |

Color me skeptical.
The study intentionally ignores time spent sitting at work. I can't find any persuasive explanation for why, other than to massage the data. If there were a causal connection for "recreational" sitting, it seems unlikely that there wouldn't be one for sitting as a whole, but that data either wasn't collected, which is suspicious, or wasn't reported in the study, which is even more suspicious.
It's also based on self-reported data about screen-viewing, and self-reported data about physical activity, and it doesn't address other possible explanations for the correlation, if in fact one actually exists, aside from the suggested inference that the sitting caused the cardiovascular problems (e.g., less healthy individuals may be more inclined to engage in more recreational screen-viewing because they do not feel up to alternative forms of recreation.)
All things considered, I'm not impressed by their methodology, and I wouldn't put much stock in their "results," such as they are. |

Yup. I said that to a colleague just this morning. If anything, work sitting is way worse for your health! Or at least mine. |

This is true.
Stick your finger up your ass long enough you can pull off the stranger too! |
