So I was completely torn between Cosmic Gate and Dresden, and I have nothing but amazing things to say about Dave's set. Great tracks, great energy. But I was almost embarrassed that it was so empty - people were filtering out by like 2 - probably no more than 100 people at any given time. I love D36's venue - amazing space, amazing sound, fairly priced, enough eye contact with the DJ so you feel like you're getting personally serenaded... but there's clearly something wrong with the fact that the room was pretty empty with Dresden on the decks. I am rooting for D36 but...yeah.
The great news? My boyfriend chatted with Dave for a few seconds outside and asked if he and Josh would be playing NY soon so we don't have to trek it down to DC unnecessarily in March and he said there would be many more shows.. so cheers to that.
Congrats to everyone who spun at Pacha along with Cosmic Gate - wish I could have been in two places at once! |

I agree with violethalo that I felt awkward for Dave a little bit that it was so empty. While I know Dresden is a polarizing DJ in the scene, he's always been able to pack Cielo despite coming several tmes a year. I believe it's actually been a rather longer break since his last appearance. My GF and I actually thought it would be so packed and we didn't want to show up super early as she was feeling slightly ill that we bought advanced tickets for D36 for the first time ever.
I'm not sure why it was empty, but that being said the staff once again was super cool. I thought they'd be a little annoyed on such a slow night but everyone; bar, bathroom to coats was very pleasant. I really hope it was a fluke and this place continues to go strong.
Also, not the best Dresden set I've been to but the thin dance floor can't be very inspiring from up in the booth. |
