So my buddy Dave Bolland Brought home the Stanley Cup to my etobicoke neighbourhood last year and we all rejoiced. I knew the kid back in highschool and since being drafted to Chicago Blackhawks I've only seen him a handful of times. Anyways the last time I saw him was in August when he brought home the Cup and we paraded it around the streets.
Anyways needless to say I havent been following Hockey too closely this year. But I always do follow it in the paper and watching my sports highlights at night. Ive been to busy to watch games and truthfully My home team is a complete let down anyways.
but today I opened the paper and they are totally bashing my boy Dave Bolland

Chicago Blackhawks: Dave Bolland(notes), C. While the rest of the Windy City rants about Nick Boynton(notes), a third-pairing defenseman playing 16:06 per game, let's be honest here: More was expected from Bolland this year than 16 points in 37 games. Yes, injuries played a factor. But so did a 16-game goal-less streak.

I mean yes these guys live the in life and make more in a year then an average person will make in their entire lives. Yes they party hard, are known as heros to some and have their pictures hung on little kids walls and idolized.Getting Paid Huge amounts of money to Play when i go out every year and spend hundreds of dollars just to play. BUt thats got to be hard to wake up and read that you are the biggest let down in sports right now. Especially when youre battling with injuries. Anyways I thought I'd reflect on that because as a kid I idolized these players in the spotlight and now being older and growing up with half these guys and playing with most of them it really makes me realize theres nothing to really idolize (other then the $$). reading in a paper that you suck must hurt the ego. |

haha hes not the only guy i know that plays pro hockey. Im about to mkae a drake thread too.
nah i just sympathy for the dude. after watching pens and caps 24/7 i really wish i stuck it through with hockey. When I quit I was alot farther in my hockey career then my soccer. And I knew with soccer it was going to be nearly impossible to do anything with. But I just loved the sport so much more. Also after going through some major sports injuries over the passed few years disabling me from doing my job, I can only imagine how it is for them (same added stress if not more plus they got to wake up everyday and read that theyre total ups and let downs). Just saying Im beginning to be sympathetic towards these guys opposed to when i was younger id probably have the attitude of ' them they're doing what I want to be doing.' |
