In all the years I've been clubbing, I don't get the fun of going to a place and just copying down every track, in order, a DJ plays.
But that's just me.
note: see my profile title. :) |
only takes a sec -- pop out phone, shorthand note, back in pocket. back to dancing. not like i'm sitting in the corner with a clipboard the entire night ;)
also, markus is the only dj i'd do it for... i like to watch how his livesets progress over time, i dunno, i think it's interesting. #nerd |

You're the best tit in awhile.
Sorry, I've been waiting to use that line. bwaha.
Glad to see someone not take things personally. Even when maybe the person should. Not saying necessarily in your case. Or maybe I am. :-) |

Haha. I've never been a trainspotter. I'll recall tracks from memory after the party, but the last thing I worry or even remotely care about is jotting down a tracklist while I'm inside a club.
I remember when I started to get know a few (major) DJs. A couple in the past have tried to take a jab at me of me asking me if I was going to trainspot them all night (since I'm often around booths), when I've never been one, simply because I was from TA (this is when DJs looked high on Tranceaddict. Before 90% of the people here got all jaded and started hating trance lol. Oh the good ole days.)
Remember when it was possible to setup TA dinners with the big up-and-coming DJs? Armin, Markus, Ferry, etc. They didn't show up to them all, but between SF, LA, and other cities it was done with great success. oh the good ole days of TA. Cannot believe that was like SEVEN, EIGHT years ago. I'm so old! |

i used to always just record videos during sets just to relive the moment...and honestly there is always 1-2 videos from each set that gives me the same chills i had when i experienced it live so i continue doing so..i also try to get videos of songs ive never heard for ID purposes. (i have a video of sinners from may of 2010 in avalon los angeles, FYI )
as far as track listing, i had never done it until sutra this past wednesday, and honestly considering i listen to gdjb and markus at least 20 hrs a week, i see it as a knowledge thing and i want to see how many songs i know by artist, producer, remix, etc. and i was pretty damn close at sutra, there were just a few tunes i coulndt id.
im definitely going to continue doing it for every markus event as its like a fun puzzle for me. :) |

Ditto. Figuring out playlists of DJ's set is fun.... It's like a "test". Why not pop out the iphone and put down track names..... I mean, its a ing club/festival. Does one really need to be socializing and doing the stroke show that much? Most the time crowds are so dirty and ugly (even in the nicest places) that thinking more of the track listings gets me distracted from the that, lol. Also what's being played is part of the fun for me and one of the main reasons why I go, since I download music every day. I'm not at club to socialize or give the stroke show trying to find a job...... |

+ 1
Was going to put that at the end, but figured people had the sense to make the connection. |

OK, I was just f'n around and look at how serious the convo kinda got....lol.
BTW, I go for the music, too. Who said anything about socializing!
I go in to bob my head and...bob my head. And unless people talk to me, I usually don't go out of my way to talk to other people. Ask my Michelle if you ever meet her, she's felt the silence before hehe! I say "bob my head" as I don't really jump around anymore (sometime's I pull it out on the special nights!) since I've messed up my ankle so many times, heh. I got sick of wearing a brace for two+ years because of injuring my ankle over and over again jumping around to [mainly trance] music at clubs. Anyhow, I don't go in to write down every track. Now I'll try to ID every track (which I fail horribly at these days), but write it down? Nah. What for? If there's a track I must know the ID to, yeah...I'll jot that down. But that's it. :p
Anyhow, to each his own. If I really cared that other people wrote down tracklists at a club....that would make me pretty sad. I'm not sad. So I don't care. |
