he's an incredible guitar player. his trio with pino and jordan is incredible playing moody blues. in my opinion he's one of the few that sound better live than in the studio. any other fans here?

One of these middle of the road artists that is like Katie Melua or Norah Jones, fair enough, technically gifted and they sound very smooth. Just haven't got the time for their mediocrity.

I love Mayer, although I haven't explored anything past his mainstream albums.
Would really love to see him live.

Concentrating on school and my "need" for music has depreciated. Doesn't seem to interest me as much as before, although I have to admit I'm not doing my duty to explore. Still passionate enough to return every now and then I suppose.

Doesn't he have raging case of douchitis though? With a big bag attached?

A local radio station here in NY had him perform a few tracks for a live on air benefit they were hosting and he really did sound amazing live, he had that "just go with the flow" kind of performance and it so worked for him. I'll admit his music is a bit mellow for me to listen to on a constant basis but I won't deny that he has talent for sure.

According to the tabloids, but they always blow things out of proportion. Here's a playboy interview with John:

my thoughts exactly! like.. i literally said those same words to a friend a while ago who was a fan of this Mr. Mayer. haha. maybe i should give him another go around, and check out his live stuff. working backwards just might work.
my fondest memory of said music was years ago in high school. my marine biology teacher, who was rumored to be a giant stoner (me too!), would always come in with great big red eyes and then proceed to play the Blue Planet video series while John Mayer simultaneously played in the background. kinda weird. not to mention i preferred the ominous music of the deep sea videos way more than any of the soft stoner/save the planet acoustic rock stuff put out by John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Jason Mraz, etc. haha.
