Does anyone know any popular NYC spots for a wednesday night?

A friend of mine will be in town for only 1 night (wednesday night) and was hoping TA could give me any ideas on popular hott spots to hit with a bit of life in them on a wednesday night?
I should mention, a bar/lounge atmosphere with drinks and good music, and if there is such a thing, maybe even people dancing on a wednesday night...

Roots is a magical showcase every week with real house music fusion'd with saxy Latin grooves & amazing live performances by the crew of singers to usually one of a kind of beats. Rare Wednesday treat opportunity to locals.
Enjoy or barhop, check RA Events. Something should be listed there as well. |

If you like techno, check out Karma on 1st ave bet 3rd and 4th sts, one of the best locals parties IMO.
They do a techno happy hour starting at 5 pm and then they move the party to the basement until 4 am. One of the 7 places left in the city where smoking is permitted too because they have had a cig vending machine forever

Roots is a good party, haven't been back to Cielo on Wednesday since I met my husband though. |
