Taimur Agha [Blkmarket Membership] Bio
One of NYC's most active tech-house DJs, Taimur is a major force shaping the scene. It is not uncommon to witness his tireless efforts in making his party�s vibe one of the most talked about in the U.S. Whether it be a widely known artist, or someone he is introducing you to for the first time, he is sure to please.
His deep DJ sets are a late night staple in NYC's underground. His extensive knowledge of music is displayed in all of his sets. Although you can hear influences from the many artists that Taimur has worked with, it is
obvious that he has shaped his own sound with quite the flair over the past years. You can catch Taimur opening, headlining, and closing many of the best parties around the US. With partner Fahad, he has helmed the Blk|market Membership parties, producing over 150 events that have hosted some of techno's biggest names and brightest up-and-comers at Secret Locations, LOVE, Cielo, Bar13 and now District 36 over the past 4 and a half years almost.
New York Magazine awarded his Blkmarket Membership party as the �Best All-Night Dance Party� in the March 2010 issue. It is this residency of his that has musically matured him and made him a DJ to watch.
One of the most important artists that has influenced and enhanced Taimur's knowledge in the music industry is Craig Richards of Tyrant / Fabric. His creative visualization and accomplishments musically have inspired Taimur throughout the years they have been working together.
When Taimur is not busy djing and putting together his events, he can be found working at Halcyon record shop in Brooklyn NY (halcyonline.com). He is an integral part of the team as he is the main music buyer for
the house/techno/disco/electro genres of music the shop has to offer in vinyl and cds. His love for digging to find those extra special records is his biggest passion. It's no wonder why Taimur is ahead of the pack when it
comes to new music. His bold and confident taste in music will keep you coming back for more.
Just recently Taimur has become the Musical Director and a resident DJ at the new club that has opened in New York City, called DISTRICT 36. |
