‘Your Turn Girl’ is yet another major leap forward for Foss, the continued evolution of an approach, attitude and sound born in Culprit’s LA studio, honed in London and perfected on dancefloors across the world.
Your Turn Girl - the title track is an epitomy of Foss’ “ominious funk” style, playful yet with a distinctly sultry edge,. Yet another memorable R’n’B’ female vocal bit sits on top of some of Lee’s own best synth work. And driven by a killer analogue bassline.
Pyramid Scheme – written during an incredibly prolific period for Lee last year, the track bristles with the disco-inspired propulsive energy. An acid-flecked low end, that comes to the fore mid-way through, a swirling guitar sample, the crisply sharp drums add up to the release’s, perhaps, most hands-in-the air moment.
Cabin Party continues the themes Lee explored with his mega successful Hot Creations EP. Foss eschews the standard house beat yet again, opting for his most organic drums yet, stunningly conceived textures and melodies, with another pair of vocal hooks to die for. A shimmering anthem to carry the warmth through the dead of winter.
Warriors has been a staple of many a Culprit DJ set for the best part of 2010. Lee’s trademark combination of a terrific electronic bassline, and an unabashedly emotional sample work make for a deep house stand-out tinged with a sense of nostalgia.
Cabin Party is mega. Dropped this at my last gig and it went off, loving this EP :)

Pretty much what I'd expect from Lee. Cabin Party will definitely be making the rounds, and I can see Warriors getting occasional play under the right circumstances.

Lee doesn't disappoint. Your turn girl is my favorite, but I'm most surprised by Warriors. I like it but it feels way more proggy than the rest of Culprit's output so far.
