Is Obama's push for higher education really just a way of ensuring more Red states turn Blue in the future? :toothless

Hasn't education funding in the USA been largely ignored/cut in the past 20 years? Don't have the facts handy but someone who knows feel free to chirp in.

The17sss thinks we should abolish public schools. He represents all republicans in this view.

No, education funding has increased dramatically over time, and has reached epic levels under Obama... it is beyond obvious that throwing more money isn't the requisite remedy. Our schools are a ing hole because of the teachers unions. It is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to fire a ty teacher or shut down a poorly performing school. More and more money is used not for the students' benefit, but to prop up ridiculous pension and benefit plans of the unionized workers that are double the private sector average. But it will never be properly reformed because the teachers unions are the 2nd largest benefactor of Democrat election campaigns. Obama also killed school voucher programs, right in D.C., for inner city kids who were afforded an opportunity at a real education in private schools and were performing beautifully as a result- from teachers union pressures. Truth.

Not that hard really. The problem is if you fire them, some other district will pick them up, solely because there is a LACK of teachers altogether.

Well he's a much better speaker than his predecessor. Obummer made it seem like all was well in this nation.

I loved the gay soldier reference. None of the military leaders would applaud after that remark. :stongue:

It's pretty tough man- just like trying to get someone evicted from a rental property. If it were easy, our schools would be in better shape. When the fear of getting fired disappears, or the idea that your job is safe no matter what you do, the slope into mediocrity becomes more slippery than Bill Clinton's cigar hand. I don't know where you get that lack of teachers thing... are you kidding? Lack of "good" teachers maybe.
