I was just searching around my samples folder for some crash cymbals for DayTrader's thread and I found some long-lost reverse crash buildups that I recorded back in 2006, but I never did anything with them. A drummer friend of mine brought a his cymbals and mallets/sticks over one day and we recorded him playing some buildups. They're completely unprocessed and raw and probably need some cleaning up, but if anybody wants them, download away:
http://www.cryophonik.com/files/cry...cymbals_RAW.rar (9MB)
Consider them 100% open source, royalty-free, no credit/acknowledgement required, etc. Just don't say I never gave you bitches anything, aight? :p |

I'd probably refer to these as cymbal swells rather than reverse crashes, but they'll still come in handy!
Thanks again ;) |

Yeah, I agree! No problem - hopefully you can find a use for them! |

Cymbal swells, buildups, are not easy to find. Specially custom ones. I'm downloading these right now. I'm glad they're uncompressed, I want a raw sound. Untill I find a drummer for my alt rock and modern rock tracks, I have to use sequenced one shot samples, so these will come in handy. I had to make my own swells before, using 2 alternating cymbal samples. I was able to pull it off, but having one made by a real drummer is preferred. Thanks much cryophonik.
Hey cryophonik, BTW, when are you getting back into the studio with Mia and Heather? |

Glad you guys are liking these! These posts have me wondering what a cymbal swell played in reverse sounds like. I may have to try that later.

Next week. Mia is planning on recording your track(s) early next week, I believe. The singers are all making me go to a new club here tonight that has live mermaids! I'll find out more and PM you. |

Just listened to the samples, I can definately use these. The ones toward the bottom of the list are scary sounding, in a good, eerie way. Sounds like a he used a china boy for some of those. Some of the others I have no idea, unless they were just the larger diameter cymbals.
I tried some of these swells in reverse, they sound about the same as forward, but toward the end you can hear reverse effect. Again, sounds eerie and evil. I like it.
Good to hear Mia will be recording my tracks next week! Would be nice if she can knock them both out at once.
Live Mermaids huh, sounds like a club SNL's Stefon would recommend. Sounds like a fun night out with the girls. |

Well, they sound like a cymbal swell...but backwards! :P
Sorry, couldn't resist the smartass response there! |
