| Landscaping to hide interlocking burst field claymore mine arrays with enough high-ground defilade to shoot-and-scoot and a restricted bottle-necking approach funneling into a centralized enfilade. |

| Aside from the obvious (price), location is the most important. If a house isn't in the right area, it doesn't matter what it has going for it. I've lived in houses with ty heating and insulation so those things are important. |

i agree... we thought we were smart buying a cool house in an old part of town on a tree lined street. I guess all the crackheads/dealers had the same idea. We've had nothing but problems with our neighbors and as soon as our mortgage comes up for renewal we're selling and moving somewhere better. |

| I haven't ever bought a home, but I suppose the biggest thing I look for is making sure my bedroom windows face the west and are blocked from getting as much light as possible. |

| Thread's not necessarily about buying a house. I've never owned my own house either, but I've rented a few. |

Sunlight is really, really nice to have as well, but I have an appreciation for most every phase of the day, so it's not terribly important to me.
There is a great, big tree that practically hangs over my deck, so lots of birds collect up there in the morning sun. The other day, a lone raven was perched right above my bedroom window, just cawwing periodically. I got up, got some coffee and a smoke and went on the deck to wake up, it was still there. We acknowledged one another for a while, but then, on the street below, a fat lady came by, and I hesitate to say she was jogging, but she was breathing extremely loud; the raven went nuts. I think it could tell she was on the verge of death, because it started squawking at her and hopping around in little circles, as though it was doing some sort of little victory dance. :stongue:
So yeah, birds are important to me. And corpulent joggers. |
You gay bastard. |

agree with lilith and PKC here.
So I'll sum it up by saying potential resale value. You guys in the states have it good. You can write off your mortgage interest from your taxes payable.
That would totally sweeten the deal for using a live in property as an investment. Talk about leverage! Of course, one must be careful that they have a secure job and take mortgage rate fluctuations into account to avoid another subprime mortgage incident. |
