If he genuinely sees her as he described, empathy may be hard to summon. If one were to realize though that there are things that can drive a person to do what Lindsey has done that no one else may see beyond herself or maybe a couple people very close to her, empathy can come a bit more freely. |
Veiled cries for help? Self-destruction? Midlife Crisis?
You know... I guess on some level I could. There are days I come to work and unable to accomplish anything and at times wish I was found out and fired. I guess "an easy out"...
Is that what you're attempting to suggest here?
Look, I am all for second chances, redemption, forgiveness, etc.
However, she repeatedly has shown that it's a pattern that she doesn't want to break
, even Britney realized "I need to wisen the up, stay out of the spot light, maybe I can come back one day when everyone forgets how ed up I was"...
Same was with Paris.
LiLo??? Nah.. "Where is that motheren necklace I stole? Oh, there it is. Let me put it on, while I'm on PAROLE! Yeah, that will put a smile on their faces. Not as much as a cute little " you" I had inscribed on my nail... but close enough. Or perhaps I can sneak in some coke to tell them 'No one puts Lindsay in the corner!' Yeah. that will show 'em".
Sorry, that sympathy you're talking about... hard to summon. Now, I could be sympathetic, were her throat and anus being stretched by 12" of solid black cock, as I bet that ain't fun. But I'd still fap to it, while saying "oh, that poor fallen angel. yeah, spread those ass cheeks, yeah, gag on that monster cock!"
Sympathy... I has it.:clown: |

You are the epitome of empathy. |
I have empathy for those who deserve it and don't freely choose to piss opportunity down the toilet. Lohan isn't the victim of some disease or of circumstance; she knows right from wrong. Are her fame-whore parents partly responsible for setting such a example? Of course. But plenty of people with garbage parents rise above that. Ugh... I just don't see how someone can have pity for her. |

You're so dirty
I'm not suggesting one way or another. I'm saying no one knows, myself included. So why develop animosity against celebrities you'll never meet? People love to judge the rich and famous because they think they have it all and abuse it or throw it away. Usually it's just their own insecurities at play and they're projecting.
Now go ahead and tell me everything you're basing your opinion on that you saw on TV and realize for yourself how dumb it sounds. |

Yeah she's hot, but those freckles ruin it for me :( |
Really? They make me even more... oh, God, what's the word? Actually, I don't think there's a word to describe the way she makes my hormones kick in! |

Don't mistake lack of empathy for animosity. In the case of Lohan, there's plenty of factual evidence beyond the tabloids that can't be misconstrued. Several arrests for drugs, DUI, breaking parole, stealing, etc. Should people still give her the benefit of the doubt? I have no animosity for her... and I don't wish a life of despair on her... but it's silly to see her cry in the courtroom like an innocent victim and have a soft spot for her. The girl needs some tough love... needs to learn the hard way Michael Vick style. |

| What I'm saying is that we hear about celebrities through a series of filters by people with agendas not unlike politics. It's hard to tell sometimes (sometimes not) whether what we're seeing is a calculated manipulation. The difference between celebrities and politics in this case is that there is a reason for us to pay attention to the latter. We are learning (hopefully) about how out country works. With celebrities we're just judging people we don't know from a distance to no gain. Go see their movies or don't, listen to their tunes if you like them, but I just don't see any reason to go any further than that. |

| Yes you do. Here you are talking about them, after all. |

Well that's no fun. Most of these people completely rely upon the hype - almost none of them actually create anything themselves, and only a rare few of them are apt performers in the first place. What would they be without the slobbering throngs of invasive busybodies eager to see them slip up? Excited to see them show their baseness within the panopticon, to grant a momentary glimmer of hope that usurping one's pecking order lot might just be possible if so-and-so with the can lose her in public, too?
Gross celebrity gossip gives people hope, WittHandle. Do it for the children. |

That's a saccharin version of hope. Although I did appreciate your ability to frame it more humorously than I could. |
