After that last post. He in' kissed it goodbye - and the kid didn't even realize how good he had it. He could have been the next Guetta, only not as good, but still. He's not going to find another promoter/manager/whatever.
Anyone who's paying isn't going to waste it on people who aren't willing to do a little sales work of their own and his grand-standing bull, like he deserves better, wouldn't be put up with by any other talent pimp. |

part of a local dj's job is to promote the events he plays at...sorry jake.
you can spare this stuff when you are known and an automatic draw, but until then if you don't do some of the promotions and bring some people into the club, you won't work too much.
flows down man, until people are established they have to do what it takes to get there.
tiesto is a total hack, but for example he would clean the bathrooms in the club he first played in to get his foot in the door. You want to show up and just play? Doesn't work well with nobodies. |

Hold on a second, I completely agree with you. I've been there, I've put in the work. However, there's a difference between helping to promote the event that you're playing at and doing all of the promotion yourself while being expected to meet a precise "quota" of ticket sales. |

this is my exact view.
This guy is so up our asses that I've been promoting the event far more than he has around facebook- and as soon as he gives me flyers i'm gonna start posting them up.
Another person from the promoting group he's in sent me a message asking if I can help promote the event, which of course I will, I'll definitely help them do that. But the other guy is a dick making us work our asses off selling tickets, trying to set up a "fake" competition for us in a ticket selling race.
The 'other' dj he said that had already sold 75 tickets isn't even on the line-up yet, plus he's not even old enough to attend the event (he's two years younger - and i'm pretty sure most of his friends aren't above the age limit either) . It's all BS lies trying to make me sell more tickets. |

honest question though...if you were the promoter, what would be the biggest qualification you would expect from a dj you might want to hire? |

That they're good at DJing, have potential , and have the ability to bring a crowd. |

the other 2 are nice and stuff...but point number 3 is what 99% of promoters want most.
it is all about the ROI. |
