That's three people I've heard about the "view" from again. His view was still blocked? I thought they stopped doing that....

He was kinda making fun of that fact he couldn't see last time he played there.

Guess it's not about the DJ there...at all.

Heard the set/music was great, just complaints about not being able to see him.

jdub889, i kept a set list as well. going to fill in some of your missing songs on the markus schulz forum.

i thought daniel and kristina set the mood just right...good job to them.

i thought he started of really well, he was playing pretty hard but softened it up as the set progressed.

it was also pretty damn crowded, it was more crowded than last time in may, and considering this event was only posted 10 days before, he's really gaining more popularity.

sinners and sky traffic really set the place up.

and honestly, have no idea what to think about the g6 remix, going to make a thread in the markus schulz forum and see if he replies to it.

like a G6. definitely caught me by surprise.

I'm pretty sure he couldn't see much; there were many people right in front of him, and then the two tables. We could see him fine though, well, it also depended on how tall you are and where you were standing.

It was jam packed like always, although it cleared it towards the end. Markus played a great set as usual, but I was very impressed by Kristina Sky's opening set. I got in right as she came in and wow, by far the best opening set I've ever seen at Sutra. They def need to look into her opening more at that place.

last time k. sky opened for markus at sutra i thought she played too hard, but it was perfect this time.

For a place like Sutra, too hard isn't too much of a problem. Everyone is just there to party, the progression of the music isn't too important. Now, if it were Markus playing an extended set at Ruby Skye or Avalon, progression would be more important. But K Sky was def a nice change of pace from the usual opener I've seen.

It was great seeing who I did last night. :)

They caught me a bit off guard last night since they decided last minute to open up at 8:30 instead of 9 or so like they usually do.

It worked out much better though since we were able to get more people in right away.

Hope everyone enjoyed the set. Tried to through in some old tunes for fun.

You always have to be respectful to the headliner, especially in a club event (massives work/operate differently). It being at a certain club (like Sutra) doesn't make it OK to just disregard the headliner and bang it out harder (unless there's PLENTY of time, a good 30+ minutes, to bring it back down. Nothing worse than when an opener drops down the tempo/power/drive of the opening set in the last two or three tracks to try to setup the headliner. It kills the energy because it's being brought down too quickly). All headliners like the opener to play a certain style and end around a certain BPM range. They might not say it publicly or ever really complain about it, but some do straight up put what they want (sometimes style + BPM, others just BPM) for their openers in their "gig rider." It's up to the opener to play a set that warms up the crowd and fits the night musically.

BTW, I don't think Kristina went overboard last time she opened for Markus at Sutra, so this is nothing to do with that. Maybe not the style I'd like to see, though. But we all have our opinions. What I'm saying is just in general.

Openers in LA are very different from back in Atlanta, so it's something I'm still getting used to.

ATL made it simple: The opener for a trance act was always a deep house DJ, so it could never be "too hard".

Out here, local trance DJs open for the headliners, and sometimes the trance DJs see it as their time to shine.

If I was opening for a DJ like Markus, I'd just play a progressive set to be on the safe side. Opening for someone like Digweed? I'd play tech house. If you do a good enough job opening time after time, eventually they'll give you a closing set where you can play as hard as you want.

That said, Kristina Sky is pretty popular and well-known, so it muddles the "rules" a little bit.

I wasn't there last night, but I never mind if the opener plays a bit too hard, but that's because I have entirely too much energy for my own good.

i thought kristina was great last night after not really being into her set when she opened for markus at avalon last year. she was playing a lot of vocal tracks (first state - reverie, s8t - my enemy) and some harder tracks like boomjinx & andrew bayer - quadcore, so i could see how some might think she went too hard, but i enjoyed the out of her set.

of course, i don't think its possible to kill the energy for markus ;) he ripped it again, as usual.
