there's a give and take with that - i was in la in the beginning of january and just happened to stumble upon an event with robag and thomas of pan-pot. wohoooo you would think, right?! too bad the sound system in my car was better than what they had in the whole venue (consisted of 2 tops)! not to mention the single laser (no lights, fog, strobes, added entertainment)...

I haven't been in the scene long enough to really comment... I think LA has some really great people working to make those things happen (quite a few of them TAs) but i know that to be true in new york as well. I will say this - I have been more consistently impressed by some of the names I see coming to NYC.

Well I was just speaking in terms of the quality of bookings..but of course, a line up isn't all you need to come fully equipped to have a successful night- venue def plays a huge role and the sound system plays and even bigger role, imo..without those 2, you won't get much of an experience out of the night. Ive had a few nights like that and I couldn't last long..i can't speak about how better the venues/sound systems are in LA over NYC since I haven't been there to compare but I do happen to check every once in a while to see who's playing and whatnot (just to give me a reason to hop-out out of here and visit the west coast).

LOL @ your scenario..yea that sucks, 2 tops? what a fail

I give props to these parties house assassins has been throwing: pig & dan, ms jools...not just with the line ups but with everything from the location to the soundsystem to the staff..have not had one complaint so far..keep doing what you're doing guys!!
