i only been there once and my opinion of the club is that it was def over hyped...i honestly dont think it will change the nyc scene...yes they will probly bring in some sick dj's and have some sick parties...but i dont think a big time dj will say "d36 is the most amazing room in the world and i cant wait to play there"

i will say that the staff was very friendly and showed respect all around...no jerkoff doorman, schemeing bartenders, pushy bouncers etc etc

judging by this press release, doesn't look that way...

if d36 wants Dave Clarke back anytime they better get on their hands and knees and kiss his ass

From Dave Clarke's booking agency's website:

Dave Clarke @ District 36 CANCELLED

To all New York City and Tri-state techno fans,

We are very sad to announce that unfortuantely, Dave Clarke, will not be performing at District 36 on Friday, May 27 as orginally planned. Dave and ourselves worked very hard to bring this event to you but due to complications with the club and subsequent breach of contract we were left with no other choice but to cancel. We are currently working on a new date for Dave's return to New York City which we hope to announce shortly.

Keep the faith,

The Bullitt Team"

Couldn't agree more. this isn't the first time D-36 F'd my plans and I haven't even stepped foot in the place yet.

Don't know if I should get a refund for the tickets I bought or wait for a rescheduled date. (got tickets from WantTickets.com)

Get your refund, you can always buy it again.

Dave Clarke will come, don't get all your panties in a bunch. You guys whine like girls!

I wouldn't hold your breath for him back at D36. Place will prob be a Top40 club by then.

Not really.

You guys are all being a little dramatic. Aside from the Fridays, May has been killer with great talent and the parties have all been off the hook. Every single weekend.

Not every night at a big club is going to be bringing you the exact talent you want to hear. That's why we're lucky to be in NYC with so many great options every weekend.

I'm not minimizing the major disappointment that's taken place with this Dave Clarke situation. But I would say that this is really the exception these days - the club is working hard to get the kind of talent that will make everyone happy - the clubbers in NYC and the club itself. Not always easy to accomplish both things.

However, anyone who bought a ticket for Dave Clarke will have it refunded. We don't have the time to sort who will get their money back, who will use it for another event, etc.

And there is another date with Dave Clarke on the calendar not so far away.

Ya know, when Wanttickets ed me out of the shipping and processing fees for the mess of a Size Matters party in Miami I wasn't too surpised. Wanttickets never had a reputation of being classy, helpful, friendly or professional.

But this,

"In regards to your order, $42.50 has been refunded to your account (excluding 50% of the non-refundable booking fee). Please allow approximately 4 business days for the funds to appear in your account."

Is ing bull. They want us to hurry up and order tickets months ahead of time before prices go up and to help line their pockets before a show, but then when it falls through you shouldn't keep ANY of the fees. Resident Advisor already makes money off of ads and whatever other business model they're running as a news and forum site, they really need to scab a few bucks off of me to process an order that amounts to nothing more than moving some bits across some wires?

Is the upcoming date for Dave Clarke your party or a different promoter? If so, shouldn't I just hang onto my tickets? :conf:

Because...

I bought tickets from wantickets as well. (sales were closed at RA)
To buy tickets again we'd have to pay service fees a 2nd time. Not trying to be petty but in this economy I don't want to throw money away.

Exactly, it's more about the principle of it. Nightlife is a service industry but it's shocking how the status quo seems to be that we're expected to take a certain amount of dick in our ass. Sure it's just a little bit of dick in this case now, but it always starts small.

If they feel they're owed something for their effort, they should take it up with the club or promoters, not the customers who have no say in the whole process, but also the least amount of individual power. It's a move to just take it from us dollar by dollar like that.

And one more point to make this overly long qualm into a full fledged rant; brick and mortor stroes figured out a long time ago that they would eat their restocking fee on returns (where actual labor and a reduced resale profit margin are actual costs) in the effort to retain customer satisfaction and retention. n00bs

sleepy&boo
What are you guys complaining about now - the service charge on the ticket order?

Service charges are always non-refundable.

Honestly, if you guys are really upset about not getting that money back I'd be happy to get you some drinks at any event we are at.

And yes Wantickets and RA is going to refund everyone's tickets for this event since that is the easiest way to keep things straight for the makeup event.

You guys can all email me at [email protected] and I'll come up with a way to make you guys happy the next time around.
