Anyways,
I'm turning 30 and bought myself a magnum of Krug Champagne. Vintage 81. Since my girlfriend won't let me buy any drugs. |

lol no. Isn't that bottle in the like 5 grand range. And i'm not really celebrating. More of a mourning. But my girlfriend is out which is unusual at this time and I have a feeling something is up. I hope she is just banging her director and not making some bday surprise bull. And she did the laundry which she never does including the dry cleaning which was going to be my first line of defence. I've left 3 messages on my drug dealers phone because that is the only way I am leaving the house prepared and drunk.

Looks like she's got you stitched up - how about delivery? Just tell her someone pushed the wrong bell and then do you're darnedest to hide that beaming smile that wants to flow right across for face caused by the pocket full of magic you now have.
and yeah, I thought you'd gone full out and spunked decent 2nd hand car money on a single bottle of champagne.
The Krug 81 is meant to be lovely - I've only ever had a mid 90's Krug and it was ing sublime. The magnum is meant to be better as well (which is the case with most bottles of wine these days).
If you need a white wine recommendation I had one of the best I may ever get the chance to drink a couple of weeks ago:
Chateau D'Yquem - even recent vintages are incredible by themselves but anything older than 20 years or more are just simply outstanding.
I also got a 2006 for a steal ($265) at a local wine shop that I swear must have priced it wrong but I don't think it's going to get uncorked for a decade at least if I can help it. It starts out like a yellow/white and changes to a rose/light red over time.
Expect to pay around $600-1000 for a good vintage with some age. NEVER buy it in a restaurant as it's like 4 times the price.
I don't really like Moet, but do have Penchant for Perrier Jouet or Veuve for more recent bottles.
