JOHN 00 FLEMING
Ruby Skye & Spundae Present
JOHN '00' FLEMING
Friday, March 11
Boasting regular appearances at Gatecrasher, Godskitchen and Cream, John 00 Fleming has long been injecting his blend of hard-edged progressive trance into the UK’s top clubs, including Ministry Of Sound, Slinky, Golden, Passion, Twisted, Progress, Inside-out and Naughty But Nice among many others. With a career spanning nearly twenty years, his unique character and impeccable talent have seen Fleming become the face of his genre, producing numerous mix albums, artist singles, remix projects and now heading his own underground label; Joof Recordings.
Fleming spends the remainder of his time sprinkling his trademark sound over the rest of the world. His Australian profile continues to reach epidemic proportions, while his US and European following grows steadily in magnitude.
“I love the Australian scene. It has the kind of anticipation and excitement that the UK scene had in its early years. It’s also a beautiful country which makes playing there all the more magical.”
John has a strong relationship with Australian dance heavyweights, Future Entertainment and often plays at their events for 20,000 clubbers along with regular club nights including Home (Sydney). Other regular international gigs include Cro Bar (Chicago), The Shadow Lounge (Miami), Buzz (Washington), Release (San Francisco), Giant (LA), The Guvernment (Toronto), Sona (Montreal), Dance Valley (Amsterdam), Code (Tokyo) and the former Allenby 58 (Israel).
Fleming has also mastered a number of highly revered mix albums. In 1998, John displayed his playful nature by releasing the fittingly titled, ‘Licensed To Thrill’ on Automatic Records. He followed this in May 2000 with ‘For Your Ears Only’ on React Music. John also co-compiled Volumes 13 & 14 of the notorious ‘Reactivate’ series (React Music) and headed ‘The Real Ibiza’ (Telstar), ‘Sunny Side Up’ (Passion Music), ‘The Best Trance Anthems …. Ever’ (Virgin) and more recently had massive success with the excellent ‘Progressive Euphoria’ (Telstar) that sold a staggering 70,000 copies within the first two weeks of release!
During his career, Fleming has completed numerous remix projects in a broad spectrum of genres. Among his successes are Erasure’s ‘Sometimes’, Gloria Estefan’s ‘When Will This Moment End’, Mansun’s ‘Tax Loss’ and ‘Wide Open Space’ and Junior Vasquez’ ‘House Of Joy’. His most recent; a remix of Konkrete’s ‘Law Unto Myself’ on Perfecto, has been praised by Dave Pearce, Paul Oakenfold and Paul Van Dyk.
The little time that John has left to spare has been filled with guest mixes for Radio 1 and Kiss FM as well as a stint presenting his own show on Brighton’s Surf 107 during 2000. Fleming has also turned his hand to journalism, writing record reviews for 7 Magazine and a monthly column for M8, titled ‘From Brighton With Love’.
John 00 Fleming has become one of the front-runners in the worldwide club scene. 2002 brings a new level of demand for one of few DJs capable of filling clubs on a global level. From the studio, March 2002 welcomes a second ‘Euphoria’ mix album called ‘White Label’, numerous planned releases for Joof Recordings, massive exposure in the UK and even greater success for one of the most talented and diligent DJs in dance music. |

What an awesome night! I think that Alain did an amazing job opening for J00F and setting the vibe for the night. Usually I am so pumped to see J00F, I want the opening DJ to hurry up but not Friday night. We were all really into Alain's set from the moment we walked in around 1045. He set the tone perfectly.
J00F took over around 1215 and delivered exactly what he promised. The first hour was some of the darkest, deepest prog psy I have heard in a while. Some of it was boarding on evil...it was great. The J00F editions concept was perfect. The club was dark, no lasers or disco balls (the lighting arm came down once which was cool to mix it up a bit) The focus was purely on the music - as it should be. After the first hour he started dropping his usual psytrance bombs one after another which was perfect. He played solid for 4 hours and completely killed it. It was great to see him back at Ruby on that sound system again. I think a 00.CL night is in order for Ruby next. |
