Hey guys,

Wondering if anyone knows what synth was used for the main line in this song? I have a jp8000 and have been trying to make this sound i can get close but I think it may be a different synth.
I thought id find the answer by using the search function but strangely enough i didnt!

cheers,

and to the OP, sounds like the typical JP saw sound to me.
Lunar Phase 7
Well there is the weird piano type synth/sample. That's horrible.

Then there is the classic detuned saw synth too, it's a supersaw but with less detune.

I dont mind the piano part!

hmmm, will mess around with my jp a little more.
cheers guys,

Hey guys,

while we are on the subject of this song, what would you call the sound that comes in at the 24 second mark? Its like a flicky bass type sound.
Just wondering what the common term for this sound is so I can investigate further. Any recommendations on good synths to make this sound would be appeciated. Below is the link,

Just a rolling bassline.

Rolling bass line, another term ive just learnt, cool.

but what synth is best to make that sound? That particular bass tone/sound tends to be assigned many times to a rolling bassline.

you can hear the bass is just a standard offbeat bass but there is another layer there, not sure if its a different synth altogether or its the main bass getting sent to a delay, hard to tell exactly, also seems to be some sort of flanging/phasing going on as well...

as for the main bass, its quite attacky, almost like there is some distortion or maybe even bit-crushing on it

i doubt they'd use bitcrusher, seeing as the track is from 99 (?), but i do sense a hint of distortion.. and i think it sounds too tidy to be a delay, and it changes a little bit on the end of the bar... sounds like xXx xXx xXX XXx, or something along those lines. on mono speakers so cant really comment on the panning, but i seem to remember there being some slight panning action going on on the bass too..

any ideas on how to create that sound by either software or hardware?
I really wanna add it to my collection of sounds!

The lead sound was definately done with a jp8080, considering Benno from rank 1 is responsible for the masterpiece that is deadline and he absolutely raped the jp8080 between 99-today :)
