so did any1 go to this party? lol
magocbluestar80
I did and I have to say this party was pretty good and surprising. It was a packed floor @ w.hall. I thought that I was going to fall asleep, due to thurs event and friday's event with Drumcell. Mr. Shah did very well. He kept me up till 330am.. i was in shock at his set, loved every moment of it.

i wouldn't mind seeing him again.

*Thread split... just an FYI guys.

It's better to make a review in the main forum than post reviews in the events section. Most people don't check out the past events once they are moved off the main event listing page. This way it will get more views/replies ;)

can just say how much i now adore WH VIP?

I used to complain so much about WH and i will no longer. Everyone was so great and it was so nice and peaceful up there!! There were only a few times we thought about going down stairs but within moments we were like "nah!!" hahah

Our entire party got so WASTED though hahahahah We ended up leaving a little early as we were the sober heads so we go sleepy

All in all it was a great night though! I always though the sound was a little off when you were up in VIP but i was soooooo wrong! it was fantastic.

I couldn't make it to this party but I had couple friends that went and had a great time. But they did sent me few texts while I was sleeping. Here's their review:

"Nice live keyboards and guitar tracks from sessions and another day on the terrace & new stuff. Plays hard too. Tyas was good too"

"Roger Shah was fantastic live..And he puts a great circus show. I didn't want to leave lol"

Got there a little bit after 11pm and was surprised to pay $15 (anticipated at least $25) so that already was awesome. Ryan Tyas, wow. He built up the energy in the room very quickly and had everybody moving and dancing. I don't remember the exact tracks that he was dropping, but it was good one after another wanting people for more. I enjoyed every single minute of it.

Roger Shah was amazing. Every single track was just smiles and happiness. Track of the night for me had to be Andain - Beautiful things, but everything that he played was awesome...classics and newer productions. Its cool to see him integrate midi keyboards into his sets to get this live vibe going. Awesome and chill person. The guitarist/vocalist was a great touch to the overall night. Been fan of his for a while, but never seen him life. I left with such a big grin on my face it was surreal lol.

I stayed a lil bit after Shah was done to listen to MadRaver. Lira's new vocal track was awesome + the following tracks were pumped up and energetic.

The whole show was just outstanding, especially the couple with the fire show + fifth element costumes. Crowd was pretty good too, besides buncha kids here and there pushing through (no club etiquette). I spent most of the time right up front, but looking back the WH was packeeeeed. You can feel the dance floor moving. Again, everybody had smiles on their faces while rocking their dancing shoes off.

Great to see all the familiar faces :D

Successful night was successful

I hope the sets were recorded somewhere.

Yea i got a bottle too. I got there kinda late and they put me in the far corner spot right next to the rap room. While sitting at the table I could hear both beats. So yea...I had a completely different experience with sound. Plus my waitress could not speak any english. I asked for tonic and she brought me sprite, then seltzer, then water. Finally I walked to the bar tender and he gave me a bottle.

I got on line to get in at 1000PM. I was on the guest list (supposedly $1 before 11) and they made us all stand around for 1/2 hour (typical bs) and then when we got in, it was $5. Also found out that the upstairs wasn't open yet; bouncers said midnight.

So I was chilling in the main room for a few minutes with my friends when I decided to peak at the stairs, and low and behold at 1115PM, the upstairs was open..? Wtf? So I missed the first 20 minutes of Ryan's set, but what I heard was absolutely sick. He brought a great energy both through his set and his persona behind the decks.

I wasn't sure what to expect with Roger. I know he's generally more of a Baeleric style of trance, but I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed his set from the beginning to when I left (around 300). I really liked his bit playing the keyboard (as mentioned above) and the live guitarist was damn cool too. Both were cool guys as Roger came around the stage and gave high five's and the guitarist threw his picks to the crowd after he finished.

All in all, a very memorable and unique experience. Glad I checked it out and definitely would see him again if/when he came around again.

re: the track: thanks, Seb! :) great to hear it on a massive sound system. just a fun little track written for local friends.

Set of the night for me was Ryan's. He just tore the place apart & really built up the energy in a fantastic way.

This was also my first event in VIP anywhere, so I can't really comment on how it compares to others, but it was fun times-- though in usual Lira fashion I was wandering everywhere & didn't really spend most of my time up there. I must have passed by hellosam's wasted party a few times, there was a group that seemed like they were having a GREAT time...lol.

I can't say I was head over heels for Shah's set. I liked the last hour of it once it picked up bpm & energy, and Who Will Find Me is one of my favorite vocal tracks (Adrina Thorpe<3) but it felt like the energy level of his set just dragged on for the first two hours. Yes, I know it was supposed to be balearic. but for me, there wasn't enough instrumental energy to back up the occasional influx of vocal cheese. I wasn't feeling up to THREE encores, either. (Going Wrong-- no. A keyboarded Beautiful Things-- okay, I can't say no to that one. His own keyboarded version of As The Rush Comes-- enough already.) There's no denying that Shah's pretty talented, though. Or at least clever-- one midi keyboard per laptop per track, Ableton on both. I wasn't a huge fan of the vocalist/guitarist he brought, either (Inger Hansen)-- I remember first listening to Sunny Tales in '08 and going "buh? who's this Inger guy?" They even layered an auto-tune on Inger's mic. bleh x 50.

Rai played well in closing, but the place had emptied out so much by the time Roger left the decks (~4) that Rai only fit in about 5 or 6 tracks before the lights went up. They included:

1. Enchanter (Tech Trance Mix) - Cheric, MadRaverRai, & Lira Yin
2. Out of the Sky (Aly & Fila Remix) - Lange feat. Sarah Howells
3. Rulebook (Bryan Kearney's No Rules Mix) - Sean Tyas
4. Never Cry Again (Jorn van Deynhoven Remix) - Dash Berlin feat. poor Kate Walsh who never gets any credit

--and a couple other tracks I forgot. Two at the most.

I was there with Big Mike, we had VIP right next to the "green room" door. Nice to see some live guitar, vocals (so-so), keyboards (too much)..good vibe all night. Ryans set killed it for sure..glad I got to see his entire set.
