If you're both big NIN fans, what was the argument about? |
I used to be, but am not anymore and was overly aggressive in my rejection of my teen angst past, in which my nin fandom played a big role, and made an excessive effort to renounce Trent, rather than just 'eh, not so much anymore.' |

Shaw used to like NIN, later rejected them, Hal became upset, and shaw retracted his earlier statement?
That explains everything. |

I think kev was just making a light hearted jab. No need for an essay detailing your inner most feelings and personal history. |
Not this time. I was genuinely looking for a reply on the subject from Hal, because I appreciate the thought he puts into stuff he is passionate about.
That being said, thanks for your explanation Hal. :) |

I really don't even feel like I addressed your question though. :p
A lot of people are really mad at Trent somehow for no longer making the music he did in the early 90s. I think those people are ing dicks, and even Trent himself has addressed them publicly by saying something along the lines of them 'assuming he can't do good work when he's not on the verge of killing himself all the time'. He used to be a genuinely unstable guy, and now he is much better. I cannot conceive of how one might think this is a bad thing.
But then again a lot of rivetheads resent him just on principle. And even I would like for him to speak more about his memories of Peter Christopherson, who died just last year, but this is rather greedy and prying of me, I suppose. |

I was ok with NIN, though I never bought any of their albums. I tend to side Shaw, reminds me of teen angst and such. I've moved on just like Shaw and Reznor. Almost as funny as seeing him up on the Oscar stage is hearing Hal get all defensive, like his integrity is on trial. Irregardless of the merits of the music the whole persona these bands create looks ridiculous after you become an adult and look back at it. |

Haha, I knew eventually you would don your NIN armour and fight to preserve their honour! :p |

Maybe he'll write an autobiography one day. That would be fantastic. |
