Does it go like this?

Midi out from the virus TI into jp8080 midi in and midi out from jp into the motu?
Can i use the virus USB and play notes on it and transfer to the JP8080 using the motu?

i had the same lousy issues with virus C, JP8080, nord rack3 and microQ in a chain. gave up and bought a mididevice with 4ins/outs, midichaining sucks for anything but temposyncing. after a while i gave up the mididevice too as i had problems with delay on midi and delay on audio was not the same. then sold it all. best decision ever. good luck :)

my only tip is to turn sysex off on all instruments.

what does that do?

sysex are controlwords or something, or instrumenst spesific system exclusive parameters or something. if its on, one instrument will up the next one in the chain. unless you manage to somehow limit it to certain midichannels (like JP on 1 and 2, and virus on 3-16). if its on, and you turn the filter knob on one device it could change the filter on the next device because it sends midi cc. also if saving presets, opening presets etc, that also will be sent to the next one, and it might be a completely different parameter. I never figured it out, and literally gave up advanced midigear like virus and microQ. Clavia was abit easier to figure out but I didnt like the synth so I threw everything out. You might have better luck running you Virus in TI mode (USB only), and then using your midi and audio for the JP only. But im definitly no expert in the field as I gave up. Sysex will probably have to be on on the Virus if your going to use usb. Read the manual if you will, i tried on my C, it was hell.

edit: i got to ask though, what the hell did you buy JP8080 for? :p

Ok, this won't work without a dedicated interface UNLESS you want to stick to instrument mode for each synth (1 midi channel for each synth) but since the JP is 2-part multitimbral and the virus up to 16 part, you will need a midi interface with at least individual ports for all your synths.

connect each synth with midi in (to play notes) and midi out (to use it's knobs to be recorded in your DAW)
