"Furniture Made Of Elements" [Ambient/Techno/IDM]

I felt like doing a more casual mix in between my big concept mixes, and I'm honestly surprised with how it turned out.

Some very rich sounds here. It has an old-school ambient opening, then stumbles along IDM lands before going into a nice banging closing section. In other words, a lot of fun.

So, without further ado:

Also, if it sounds a bit unfinished. That's because it technically is. Don't get me wrong, all the mixing work is done. It's just that i had planned a final patchwork session to play with the EQ's and such a little more, but unfortunately my PC broke down and i had to format my HD. I was able to selvage the mix itself which was on a different drive but i lost all the set data. So there may be a few rough spots depending on how keen your ears are, but alas. If anything it kind off fits it's eclectic nature. :clown:

i'll comment on this after i get to the listening. ant-zen stuff + shades of orion seems kind of a weird mix.

Heh, thanks guys. The mixing is messy and the flow is best described as "just go with it". Ill explain myself a bit more about that later, probably tonight as i can't get it out of my bloody mind.

Still, i released it anyway because i think it's rather fun. Just don't take it too seriously ;)

This is great. I wouldn't notice all the technical details, I don't know any of these tracks and don't know the transitions but I like how you make your mixes flow and keep it diverse throughout. Some good techno in there.

the first part of the mix was brilliant, the ambient textures and lush soundscapes along with frenzied beats were nice. i liked that alot, second part was nice but i didn't hold up the first one. i didn't get a sense of flow until the last couple of tunes of the section and then you ended it with a big wonderful noisy tune. yeah, good effort none the less. tunes was mintos though, just flow was weird in the second portion and not a good weird like in the first portion.

I'll give this one a listen.

Ah, thanks everyone. I think a retrospective is in order as well replying to your comments.

Firstly, as i mentioned before this was a different project for me,
I just wanted to stitch some leftover tunes together for some distraction as well as gaining more mixing experience, which is why the selection was wildly eclectic. Because of that I wasn't going to spend more then a month on it nor have it extend for much longer then an hour.

Now, montana: You're basicly describing exectly how i feel about this mix. Thing is, after a few weeks of breaking my head over track arrangements I was starting to lose interest like something fierce. This has to do with the tracks, which, unlike my the ones in my last mix are only interesting until the novelty wears off. I had faced and overcome the same problems in my last mix but then again it took the better part of a year to make as i constantly had to take breaks.

I wasn't happy with the middle part in this one either, it's a bit of a wonkfest and i still had plenty of ideas to improve it. but wasn't feeling like doing it anymore. So i basically mocked it up and gave it a few listens to consider. And I figured I was alright with it. It's a mix that appeals to me on evenings when I'm home, have had few beers and don't really feel like analyzing everything. But would rather just be surprised and entertained. Which i think it does well.

Teez: I was most bothered by the mixing, as i at least wanted to get that right, but unfortunately it wasn't meant to be. At least it made me realize it's about time to replace my ancient computer hardware. I could sum up the things that went wrong but i'd rather not, since now they at least have a chance of not being spotted. ;)

Still i'm glad to have released it anyway as i can now work on my next big project again, I'm thinking Hardtek/industrial for that one. Knowing myself it will probably be finished around winter or so. :p

I gave this a listen, but for some reason the Soundcloud player stopped working about 33 minutes in. Shame, as I was really enjoying the mix. I'll try to find an appropriate hour to give it another listen, and hopefully get to hear the whole thing this time.

the first 20minutes is mint. then the more lush stuff comes in and clashes which the trippyness you have set up.
