FIFA CONFIRMS CANADA AS HOST OF WOMEN'S WORLD CUP CUP
ZURICH - FIFA has confirmed Canada as host of the 2015 Women's World Cup.
The announcement was made at FIFA House by FIFA president Sepp Blatter.
Canada had been up against Zimbabwe for the 24-country tournament. But the Africans pulled out earlier this week.
Canada was runner-up to Germany to host this summer's tournament.
Canada will also host the FIFA Women's U-20 tournament in 2014, which will serve as a test event. |
It is pretty sad that the most popular sport in the world only has one taker to host this event....and that taker is Canada of all countries.
Even better, Toronto will not be participating in this event. |

| Should be a considering factor for hosting the Mens. I think they should go hand in hand. |

| Look at the poor job we did with the U20 mens. Such a bad job at promoting that most of the city didnt even know we were hosting it! |

| what gets me is that no other country in the entire world wanted this event. This is easily the biggest sporting event in female sports and nobody else will touch it with a ten foot pole. It tells me there is either no money to be made from it, people are not interested in female sports, or people only like soccer when its the elite of the elite playing. |
