I may be back from my trip to China in time for this event. That's unless I end up going somewhere else like Macau or something afterwards.
But it should be a great event to kick off the summer! |

LOL I'll say hi to some of them if they are along the way.
I'll be going to: Beijing to Shanxi Province, Xi'an city, to Hefei, Suzhou, Tongli and Shanghai.
I'm going on a Study abroad opportunity with my school studying architecture and sustainability.
Do you have any suggestions on where to go/eat? My biggest concerns will be breathing (I heard its hard the first few weeks). As well as the food... I know its not like North America but I hope I can get some good stuff in hopes that it isn't something I'd avoid here due to health concerns.
I'm gonna make a thread soon when I get all the details. I'm leaving the end of April for a month and a bit. But I'd like to check out Macau if possible... since I'm on the other side of the world. They don't have facebook or google so I might be concerned LOL. |

things to do in china? not much really. out of the places you've listed i have only been to shanghai (but i have been to other parts of china as well). in my opinion, food in mainland china sucks compared to hong kong (which is like the style of chinese food that you find in toronto).
i would extend your trip to cover hong kong as well if possible. i can easily spend a few months in hong kong. |

i never got to party while i was there cuz i was there with my family. as "expensive" as some people say shanghai is, it is still quite a bit cheaper than our north american standards.
there arent many big cities in china so most of it is rural. rural areas are pretty darn cheap. when i was in Taishan (my dads home town/village) i had a breakfast which consisted of congee, steamed rice noodle, hot coffee or tea and there was something else for under $2CAD.
we took some of the old neighbours out for a dinner which we reserved a room with three tables (10 people each). a few of the guys took full advantage of the situation and ordered many bottles of chinese liquor but each bottle was only like $10. lol. the entire dinner cost like $200-250CAD. dont remember the exact total. |
