I think Trance didn't had that characteristic sound in 1994 than it has now, 'coz the style was still developing there.

I wouldn't classify that as hard trance. More like hardcore or something like that (not an expert on anything hardcore as it's not my thing). The examples Trance-MB posted I'd classify as some sort of trance even though I'd personally classify The First Rebirth as hardcore, not trance.
