WOW! I can honestly say that I was not expecting what I walked into last night! Zack and I arrived around 12:15 and the music was bangin and I thought to myself "Dash Berlin must be on already" but it was Jim laying it down! Caught a few of his tracks and they sounded great. The room was fully packed by that time and it woke me right up :)! I didn't know about Dash going into the night but apparently a LOT of other people know and love the guy. The energy was super high from the moment we got there til about 4:30am when it was still decently full. Dash played a ton of vocal tracks, many of which i'm guessing are his own mashups and people were just going crazy for them! I was surprised how hard he played bc I had been hearing that he plays "fluffier" stuff. It was definitely uplifting but he didn't mess around. Zack got on at 3:15 and dropped some bombs before handing it over to Bissen who closed it out with some of his original productions.
Overall, amazing party! Hats off to Massive for bringing these guys in and throwing yet another great party. Wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing a lot more of Dash Berlin in the near future!
Some pics...vids to come...

Fun night indeed. :)
I knew the buzz for this one was pretty big going in, but didn't really expect THAT kind of turnout. I have never seen Webster Hall so packed really.
I had an absolute blast closing things out for Dash alongside Bissen. Its always fun getting back to my trance roots for a closing set. :toothless |

| +1 on everything said, was an amazing night from start to finish. I had the best time opening for Dash and it was awesome to see everyone. His set was straight energy and it was great, and Zack and Bissen dropped some serious bombs late night. The dancefloor was shaking!!! One of the best experiences I've ever been a part of, thanks so much to all who came! |

+1. I was really surprised by how damn GOOD Dash Berlin was of a DJ-- his mixing & relentless transitions were impressive, and he sampled like a madman. Vocals from "Till the Sky Falls Down" and Faithless's "Insomnia" definitely showed up more than once. ...Unsurprisingly, even though his playing *style* was less fluffy than I expected, he played waaay too many vocals-- I'm definitely a fan of a couple of his originals, and I was bouncing off the walls when he played Man on the Run & Never Cry Again, but 5 or 6 vocals in a row is headache-worthy to me.
One of my favorite moments came early when I was bracing for a fluffy vocal and instead, he dropped the latest remix of "Punk"-- oh man, that "di-gi-tal PUNK" vocal is one I won't object to (zomgFerry next month)!
The crowd...I was down in it, and Webster Hall was not only amazingly packed, it was a Pacha-worthy crowd and just as obnoxious. Definitely got stomped on/elbowed/groped/rained-on-by-drinks. Bleeeergh. That almost ruined the night for me-- only the sheer quality of the sets saved it. Big turnout from Dash Berlin fans, but I think they seriously left a few marbles at the door.
Props again to Jim & Zack! :) |

@Sam: *points to my review* :P "it was not only crazy packed..." I think you missed the "only," haha! <3
I can only think of a few tracks from Dash's set off the top of my head, in questionable order, with a lot of mixing & sampling thrown around--
DB - Till the Sky Falls Down (intro)
DB feat. Emma Hewitt - Disarm Yourself
Ferry Corsten - Punk (Arty Remix)
Cerf, Mitiska & Jaren - You Never Said (DB rmx)
Cerf, Mitiska, & Jaren + DB - Man on the Run (original mix. I really wanted to hear the 4am rmx)
Armin van Buuren feat. Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Not Giving Up on Love (DB's 4am rmx. good remix, earbleeding vocal)
First State feat. Sarah Howells - Reverie
some track with Audrey Gallagher
some track with Susana
187346375862345672946 other vocal tracks that I kind of tuned out/didn't recognize
Faithless - Insomnia
Cosmic Gate - Exploration of Space (recent remix)
DB feat Kate Walsh - Never Cry Again (last track)
encore: DB feat. Emma Hewitt - Waiting
Like I said earlier, samples of "Till the Sky Falls Down," "Insomnia," "Disarm Yourself," "Fire Wire" (maybe?) and a couple of others showed up a few times in the set. He was mixing like a crazed man. In a good way. There were lots of tracks that I liked & didn't recognize because I've not been really caught up with trance over the last 6 months. |

yeahhh, I hear that. I can't do VIP, and I still like being up front & recording video & blending in with the dancing crazies so I don't stand out as looking like an idiot :tongue2 ...but most of my footage got f@#$ed up because of me getting totally owned by the crowd. too small to fight the mobs!
I'll keep sticking it out down on the floor until I really get sick of it-- it's only been 3 years. give me another 6 years & let's see how I feel about it! this reminded me why I think twice about Pacha parties though...grumble Gareth Emery in May. |

oh gosh i just threw up in my mouth a little thinking about Pacha crowds! hahah
I think Pacha is what did it to me....thanks to that crowd i no longer even give any other crowd a chance hahahahah
honestly...for a good dj though its worth the crowd...as long as theyre not TOO bad....
happy to hear that it was still fun though, the elbows didnt completely ruin your night! |

james did an AMAZING job opening. ill have a HQ video recap of that up soon :)
didn't make it around long enough for zack's closing set with bissen but i imagine i missed a good one
as for dash berlin, i was thoroughly surprised with his performance. even though there was a lot of vocal tracks in there that i couldve passed on, his set was really enjoyable just purely based on the mixing and mixture of genres. i think lira missed a key point in his set though... dubstep remix of justice - we are your friends mashed up right into right into Dash Berlin - To Be The One (Cressida Remix)... i die. |
