Silent Disco

Anyone ever been to one of these parties? It's where the audience all wears wireless headphones and the sound is transmitted from the DJ / performer. I have the opportunity to play an event this summer, but would like to hear peoples' reactions to it first. I'm sure there are several companies doing this, but Silent Disco is the one at this particular party. Is the sound any good? Does it make you want to dance or is it significantly less inspiring than having speakers?

I've heard of the idea but have never been to one. On one hand I think its a pretty cool idea that if you want to get away from the music and talk to someone you can just take you head phones off but, on the other hand I don't think I would want to wear headphone all night.

There was a Silent Disco at Bonnaroo, and I highly enjoyed it. The DJ's were pretty talented and they played really fun tunes. It's rather humorous to watch everybody dancing like fools to when the actual atmosphere is pretty hush and quiet.

Always wondered what this'd be like.

Interestred to see it's finally being done! I think it's a great idea! Most of the time, people's headphones would be better than club sound systems anyway.

i've heard/read about these
seems VERY stupid to me. so stupid, in fact, that i'd be willing to bet that half the crowd at the party would be wearing flannel, drinking pbr, and, well, suckign each others dicks.

So you think Bas and Clovis go to those parties?

Last summer I was at a festival that had a silent roller-disco. I stood there for like 15 minutes and while I enjoyed the atmosphere, I didn't feel the need to stay there much longer.

But like I said, it was a roller-disco, on a festival. Can't say how it would have been if it was a 'regular disco' and not on a festival site. It sounds like fun once in a while, but not too often.

what if your headphones crap out on you during it? it sounds neat, but i personally like feeling the bass in my entire body; not just my ears.

I just want to know what it sounds like if you don't have any headphones on.

Had one at Exit festival and The Big Chill. At the Big Chill you could choose between 2/3 dj's so people were dancing to different things. I think they're a good idea but couldn't do one for the whole night.
