trance will never see an era that was as great as the 1998/1999 era. that was the BOMB. solarcoaster will never be on par with seven cities. ligaya will not be remembered as much as gouryella. no other anthem will ever replace THE ANTHEM, universal nation.
LOL! |
U r sooooo wrong here mate (no offence).
How can U now allready say solarcoaster is not gonna be as big as seven cities?
Its full in his existence now! After 3 years we talk about "remember 2002, solarcoaster, carrera, damn man those tune are classix, much better then the music is now".
Thats the way it goes, tunes need time to develop, to get a personality. After a few years you will see....
Look at Strange world by push. When it came out noone talked about a classic, now (2 years later) a lot of people say that its even better then Universal Nation. |

hate to be nostalgic but i really think 1999 is still the year of trance sad, eh? just look at 1999, we got...
Hybrid - Wide Angle album: Finished Symphony, If I Survive, Kid 2000, etc.
BT - Movement In Still Life album: Mercury of Solace, Namistai, Dreaming, Ride, Hip Hop Phenomenon, etc.
Paul van Dyk - Out There And Back album: Avenue, Another Way, Tell Me Why, Vegas, We Are Alive, etc.
Bedrock - Heaven Scent
Breeder - New York FM
Chicane - Saltwater
Deepsky - Stargazer
Freefall - Skydive
Gouryella - Walhalla, Gouryella
System F - Out of the Blue
and what do we have this year?
Sasha - Airdrawndagger album
Starecase - Firstfloor album
Cosmic Gate - No More Sleep album
Paul Oakenfold - Bunkka album :haha: :haha: :haha:
Timo Maas - Loud album
Underworld - A Hundred Days Off album
Gouryella - Ligaya
Hybrid - Visible Noise :whip:
Riva - Time Is The Healer
Solar Stone - Solarcoaster
they all pale comparing to the 1999 candidates, except maybe Ligaya and Airdrawndagger. this year has been pretty good so far, but 1999 is hard to top. you'll need songs that hits you the way Heaven Scent did.

Now that's what I'm talking about... some of the songs from 99 still give me goosebumps. Fav was Yahel - Skywalker and BT - Dreaming.
Ahhhhhh... the memories of Seaman pounding Dreaming at sunrise. Never had that same feeling ever again. Brings tears to my eyes thinking about it... It was beautiful.
...starting to get sentimental and nostalgic... i should stop |

1999 was definiteley the year of trance for me, but thats coz I r an uplifting junkie :D
This years has seen a good few tracks, but I rate last year better than this at the mo, I had more trance tracks that I loved in August last year than I do now.
Not to say that all the years havent been good, but 2000 had the least impact IMO. |

oh man, im totally in tune with that - the first trance compilation i ever bought had skywalker on it, i couldnt get enough of it.
also:
99 aqualab - journey into trance
00 sunn/cosmo - trancetter, epidemic - the activist
01 ? - into the ocean (dj tatana island mix)
02 so far my fav 2002 tune would have to be tatana - words
and right now im lost in tiesto's magik journey
why hasnt darude - sandstorm been montioned? thats a like, a CLASSIC
:toothless (classic...piece of commercial ! haha) |

no. i seem to think that in 2004, we will be talking about how ty the 2002 tunes were compared to 1999. :p you see, in this situation, there is no right or wrong answer. i stated that it was my opinion and in my opinion, i don't think solarcoaster is that good. to me, it is nothing compared to seven cities. just watch, in 2 years from now, NO ONE will be asking hooj/lost language for this to be re-released on vinyl. NO ONE will pay big amounts of money on ebay to get a second hand copy like the people that did for seven cities. if you were a seven cities addict like me, you would know before these avb promos were known to us, this vinyl was very highly sought after. unlike ATCR vinyls, there was a large surplus of quantity yet there was also a big demand for it everywhere.

yes strange world is a wicked tune but is it called "THE ANTHEM"? come on man, you're a m.i.k.e. addict. you know what i mean. heh :p |

I also like Universal Nation more then strange world, cuz its my all time fav, and YES, its THE anthem :)
And Seven Cities is also one of these tracks that are could get "a statue for trance", you know what I mean.
Yes those tracks came out in 1999, the year of trance :)
I know what you mean, 1999 was the year where all the BIG tracks came out, all the MONSTERS :)
The difference between now and then is tracks who came out in 1999 had MUCH BIGGER impact on the crowd as it now does, cuz it was something kinda new, you know....
Tracks that come out nowadays seems to be as normal as commercial tracks come out. But it doesnt' mean that 2002 hasn't as good tracks as them from 1999, the impact on the crowd is just different.
Just wanne say that 1999 was the best year for trance, trance became BIG then, thats for sure, but what I heard this year is awsome too.
Its just about how you look at it I guess ;) |
