In all honesty, EDM will never be popular as those artists you mentioned because the songs are longer, more complex, and could get repetitive. You need to come out with 3-4 minute track with a simple lyrics/hook to get any airplay @ US radios and get exposure. I listen to variety of house, techno, trance, tech-house, etc and my brother still thinks it all sounds the same. I was listening to Armin on my car one day while filling up and a guy approached me next car told me "I love that techno ".

depends what you consider popular. if you mean your face like top 40 then: no! i would want trance to be like that. but i would say it is "underground" either...

Then how come everybody knows this song?
DOES. NOT. COMPUTE.

ok so you found an exception, how does that make his point not compute?

It's funny how most people who complain about other people selling out have also never had the opportunity to sell out, themselves.

thats kinda weird as it came the same year as trance got cancer and died three years later. im actually willing to say that this synth is a big part of the reason why trance is so .

My taste in music is also dictated by a requirement that it be so obscure, esoteric and inaccessible that only the most pretentious twat would bother playing it.
And then, only on headphones.

Then what are you doing on a Trance forum then? ;)

Secretly confirming my proposal - which is instrumental to a personal narrative mythology casting me in a self-aggrandizing light - that my taste in music is more nuanced and sophisticated than the average commoner who I have falsely reduced to a cartoonish buffoon, only capable of detecting the most simplistic of rhythm whilst barely able to comprehend the complexity of melodic content, using closed-circle logic which itself advances that any song anyone else likes is automatically inferior because someone else likes it.

i've started to see some trance in the radio, progressive tunes aren't for the masses but they happen to like 3 minute radio edits of supersaw tracks.
