The manhunt by Khaio

cheers

Mix sounds nailed. It has a dark quality and I like all the sounds. For me it could use something memorable like a spoken wierd big vocal somewhere or something, but it's still a cool track anyway.

The mix sounds good to me. I think you also have a good choice of "modern" sounding elements such as the kick, clap/snare, and the bassline. My major complaint is that there is nothing memorable about this track. It sounds exactly like every other electro house track I've ever heard. Also, it doesn't really go anywhere. I suppose my personal bias is such that I like listening to songs that feel like they take you somewhere or that build and develope. Your song is more static and feels like the same beat for 2 minutes -> break -> same thing for another minute or so.

For the most part, I agree with Jay's post, but I still feel that this track has its share of slightly untypical elements as well as more conventional ones. It'd be cool to hear the finished product, because I don't have much to add at this stage

Well, he pretty much said everything I would have!

Ya, that definitely is the hardest part - writing both the melody and counter melody. I remember watching an interview with Deadmau5 a while back, and he complained that he spends all his time trying to make melodies. He said once he has the melodies down he can definitely make a track.

And if you don't mind me asking, what did you use for your kick drum? I like it. Is it a sample, and, if so, where from? Thanks.

Wave alchemy drum tools, bought it a couple weeks ago and completely in love with em. It has a bunch of HQ samples, claps, kicks, snares, and hats(all in mono I think).

Haven't touched my vengeance samples since =D
