So excited. Coming up from Toronto for this! What else is going on this particular weekend in the same vein? Need some suggestions for the Saturday.
DJ Eterno
sounds like a solid party.

doesnt take huge risks? guy uses more samples/accapellas in his sets than any other non-laptop dj ive listened to. and most of the time it sounds really good....he isnt just doing it to impress. add in the fact he mixes out of tracks every couple of minutes and hes bound to be off on some mixes during the course of a set.
Zyklon_Jay
guess what? playing accapellas without a latptop is really easy. Look guys i like Mark Farina a lot here. You guys just sound like Tiesto fans because they say he isn't a bad dj he just makes risky mixes too.

if i can find the farina on kiss radio set with the intro digweed does ill post it here but digweed aka the master of mixing to some you says smething along these lines:

i met mark @ a warehouse party in miami in the mid 90s, as i walked into the booth i saw 3 channel faders up, 3 records playing and mark was looking for another record in his bin.

mark farina is probably the TIGHTEST dj i know / ever heard. + the fact that he doesnt play with a lappy makes it even more interesting.

seriously, unless your playing a top40 club, you shouldnt be using a in laptop, that is so boring to listen to. specially with the cheap overused echo effecteds on traktor... ugh

was that last sentence a quote from john too? LOL

I'm tired of those echo effects too. Joris uses them well, but even he overdoes it.

I couldn't make it, but a bunch of VT peeps went up and gave it glowing reviews. Heard it was just the right amount of people overall, not too packed, but enough to feel like a solid party. Reports vary on end time between 9 and 10. Apparently he was playing to like 15 people at the end and happy to do so.

Now, anyone who actually went want to chime in? :p

P.s. I was pleased to hear he played the same Fleetwood Mac "Dreams" remix that floored me when he was down here :)

I was there, but wasn't there for long. McNasty won the facebook contest for a pair of tickets but he worked at noon saturday so we took our disco naps and went for a few hours.

Crowd was awesome for a friday night.. the most diversified I've seen at Stereo. It was a blend of the friday and saturday night crowd, old and young, a little gay, lots of cute girls, some milfs.

Rob Brown, was technically pretty good.. but was playing way too fast and too loud to open for Farina. He must of been at 128 at some points, varying the tempo wayyyy too much. I enjoyed the tracks he played, but it was too pumping for a warm up.

Farina came on around 4:30 with a nice intro track, and the crowd ate it up.. standing ovation, and he delivered big time. Brought the tempo back down to 123-124 and was playing some big room techy basslines with jazzy brass sampling, vocals, he sampled the Beatles... his EQing was spot on, mixing was super tight, nice extended breaks and teaser drops, I was sober and I don't think I ever danced so hard.. the crowd was loving it, smiles all across the board.

I would have loved to stay because I was digging it but we left at 6. I'll make sure to see him again, hopefully he'll be back at Stereo soon enough.
