Saturday April 23rd 2011 – “101713” the new player (or is it?) on the Chicago Electronic Music scene presents a 12 hour, 2 room event production featuring the enigmatic and elusive Frenchman - Pépé Bradock – a true legend who doesn’t need an introduction to the old school Chicago house scene. To the newer fans, he is most likely know for one of the most lusciously gorgeous house tracks of the past decade, and a staple of deep house DJs for years, a track called burning (deep burnt). For completely new fans, here is some stuff you should know:

*** Pepe Bradock ( KIF, ATAVISME - PARIS )

Long under-recognized for his contributions to the French house scene, the undeniably talented Pépé Bradock (aka Julien Auger) appeared on the scene in the mid- to late-90’s, at a time when fellow French-house producers like Philippe Zdar, Etienne de Crecy, and Thomas Bangalter were beginning to make international waves. Such was not to be the case for Auger, as his original recordings were sporadic and hard-to-find, and he instead focused his prodigious talents on remix work. The appeal of Bradock’s catalogue is also arguably the factor that has kept him from being better known: he is as wildly unpredictable from record to record as are his choices in remix projects, and he is apt to explore diverging strains of deep house, breakbeats, filter disco, or other sub-genres at a dizzying pace that is difficult to categorize. But resurgent interest in both the French Touch and deep house scenes in recent years have been kind to Pépé Bradock, and his discography has been revisited by a number of crate-digging DJ’s and producers’ producers. The surge in interest culminated in 2009 with the release of the BBE label’s career-spanning compilation of Pépé Bradock’s remixes, a two-disc affair entitled “Confiote de Bits”. Auger has also run his own Atavisme imprint since 1997, which has been home to the intermittent original material his fans follow closely. After such a long absence,101713 is proud to bring this hidden house treasure to the new secret Chicago venue (announced the day of the event via twitter.com/qualitymusic) for his long-overdue Chicago appearance.

*** Vincent Lemieux ( MUTEK, MUSIQUE RISQUEE, PERLON, - MONTREAL )

Also on the bill we are very excited to have Vincent Lemieux who has played an integral role in Montreal’s internationally acclaimed dance-music community. Lemieux is man who wears many different hats: curator, label owner, DJ, producer, taste-maker… this is a man who has done it all and inflected every project in his association with an indelible personal style. Internationally, Vince is probably best known as one of the curators behind Montreal’s MUTEK Festival. Since 2000, he has helped shape his hometown conception of progressive electronic music through the acts he brings to town. When not programming the festival, Lemieux hosts two of the most cutting-edge techno weeklies in the city. His long-running Tuesday night at Salon Daomé, where he DJ’s alongside world-class talent, has become a staple in Montreal’s nightlife. Claude Von Stroke, Ricardo Villalobos, Luciano, Zip, Sammy Dee, they’ve all graced the decks at Daomé courtesy of Vince.
As a label owner of Musique Risquée, which he started with Akufen’s Marc Leclair, Lemieux is also responsible for fostering local and international talent. The label has released work by Atom TM, Akufen, Bruno Pronsatto, The Mole, Jichael Mackson, Guillaume & the Coutu-Dumonts, Philippe Cam, and others. Musique Risquée tracks have been featured on compilations by Crosstown Rebels, Tigersushi, Fabric, and Freud Am Tanzen.
