i can see why. your such an emo. get out, get drunk, buy a prostitute.

Whew, that legacy pattern block option saved me from frustration.

I just hope they don't plan on taking that out of FL studio, because that was my favourite part of the workflow

Anyways, live mode is pretty cool. It seems like they are trying to move towards being like ableton live.

I've been running 9.9 beta for a while now and it took ages to get used to the new work flow and all I can say is dont get too stuck on the idea of the old way of working with pattern blocks. They are deliberately phasing them out because they are going to be dropped in the future.

The new way of working is slightly different. But just as efficient once you are used to it.

I'm slowly starting to get back to my old speed too. Some tasks are really efficient now with the new workflow.

No worries, there's nothing wrong with using FL :). It is lousy though to have a final release that (by the sounds of it) is very buggy.

I have yet to have any problems with it. The supposed issues likely exist due to the way its being used and the computer it being run on.
Prototrance
Not installed yet, I'm working on a remix and not installing over FL9 until it's done and off to the label.

So..... my question. Does the auto PDC mean I won't have to manually enter the delay compensation to all channels to account for my hardware synth delays? Or does it only work with software induced delays i.e. softsynths and effects?

And, is that convolution reverb - real space reverb modelling thingy included? I remember something about it in the beta versions but didn't see it in the list of new stuff for the final release.

ppfff definitely i am going to work with 9. I don't know why but i can't expand and contract the patterns so actually most things take 4 times more time than previously, i love my blocks ing image line.

Would anyone like to explain how they work without the block patterns?

I've tried using the project picker which is surprisingly useful, but I don't really get the workflow yet.

It's actually quite intuitive once you get your head around it. You can modify patterns on the fly by selecting 'make unique', then it pops that into a new pattern for you to do changes on it.. Reminds me a bit of disableton in that respect
DJ Robby Rox
lmao @ "disableton". In all the years I've been on this forum thats the first time I've ever heard that. Good stuff.

Oh and I'm yet to upgrade to 10 yet but hearing that they're doing away with blocks I might just stick with 9. I've always upgraded religiously in the past within weeks of them being released, but the blocks are basically my entire work flow. I don't like making stupid clips in the playlist its not simple enough. I just want blocks to represent my sounds as it keeps things neat and ordered. Not sure exactly what 10 has done but from this thread I'm not too excited to find out.

The upgrade to 9 was fantastic, looks like 10 will be nothing like that.
And seriously imageline stop changing fundamental like the snap feature in your last update. Don't they understand thats like changing the position of a steering wheel in a car? People get use to those things, it makes them work more efficiently, and you people changing this every year just creates unneccessary chaos and broken workflows for thousands of users.

If imageline makes this many mistakes in FL 11 that may definitely become my reason to move over to logic. I love FL but they are all over the place with their goals.

If anything, the new playlist would assist you in migrating *to* logic. That's what they're doing with this update.. bringing it more in-line with the "standard" workflow

When you have a pattern in the pattern editor, it is the one that will be pasted in the playlist. Then you just have to get used to the idea of using the pattern editor to edit patterns. They can all be selected from the drop down list, F4 creates a new one, and you can clone and rename just like you used to be able to.

The only difference now is having to have the pattern selected to be able to paste it in the playlist.

^ You can lock the content of the tracks in the playlist, so you can make individual tracks dedicated to one pattern only. Doing this will make the playlist act pretty close to the old pattern blocks.

- Anyone else have their piano roll f****d up? Mine's slow as hell as I drag notes along it..

- Is there any way to audition samples when I'm about to open one in Edison?
